The exact amount of sleep you need based on your star sign has been revealed.
While wisdom holds people need between seven to nine hours a night of shut-eye, this can vary depending on which planetary house you were born under, according to Australian company
High energy signs like Aries, Gemini and Sagittarius are able to break convention and recharge after just six hours, while Cancer and Pisces do well on a solid eight.

1. ARIES (MAR 21 – APR 20)
With passion and drive at their core, it should come as no surprise Aries can function well on very little sleep.
‘For Aries sleep could be seen as a waste of time,’ information on Bed Thread’s blog stated. ‘As such it’s very possible that an Aries could get by on the bare minimum of sleep per evening.’
Six hours of sleep a night is deemed all that is necessary for an active Aries to arise refreshed and recharged, ready to tackle the day.
2. TAURUS (APR 21 – MAY 21)
Those born under Taurus are well-known for their patient, responsible and stable natures.
While some can view their more pragmatic ways as being less than dynamic, this isn’t the case, more they are uncompromising, and will take their time to attend to the various areas of their life with care.
Naturally, this includes sleep.
Taurus can be a heavy sleeper and loves a lie in. The optimal amount of shut-eye for this sign is nine hours.
3. GEMINI (MAY 22 – JUNE 21)
Gemini – the sign signified by the twins – has a hard time achieving balance, something that’s especially apparent when it comes to rest.
Their bright-eyed intelligence means they’ll often be brimming with enthusiasm for plans and projects, so they’ll make do on six hours of sleep a night.
To compensate, they’ll often try to sleep more when they can to catch up.
They love naps but if they aimed for eight hours a night on a regular basis, they’d find they’d probably function better in their day-to-day lives.
4. CANCER (JUN 22 – JUL 22)
Cancer is one of the more emotive signs in the zodiac and those born under this constellation can be affected by moodiness.
In order to maintain their balance and equilibrium Cancerians do well with a lot of sleep.
A minimum recommendation would be at least eight hours a night with the occasional lie in thrown in for good measure.

5. LEO (JUL 23 – AUG 22)
Hedonistic Leo are one of the most social signs and as such tend to have a profound need to be around others.
‘Leos crave love and company, even while sleeping, and when a Leo gets what they need they will enjoy restful and deep sleep for seven or eight hours at a time,’ Bed Threads states.
However, if Leos find themselves sleeping alone, their patterns of resting can be disrupted.
Remedy this by tuning into tiredness and allowing for naps where possible.
6. VIRGO (AUG 23 – SEP 23)
Virgo is among one of the most determined star signs and are known for being driven, fastidious and completely committed to achieving the highest standards.
Because they are a high energy sign – one prone to anxiety and worry – they function perfectly well on just six hours a night.
However, if they allowed themselves a little more, they’d find themselves generally feeling so much better.
7. LIBRA (SEP 24 – OCT 23)
Kind-hearted Libra, a sign which also has emotive qualities, is known for being diplomatic, reliable and a peace-maker.
While the sign is defined by these core traits, their ability to remain level-headed hinges on ensuring they are well rested.
For optimal health, Libra should aim for at least eight hours of sleep a night.
8. SCORPIO (OCT 24 – NOV 22)
Those born under Scorpio are passionate, jealous, opinionated and courageous – all qualities which can make them seem quite intense.
Sleep is an unusual one for Scorpio as while it’s vital for their wellbeing they can find it hard to drift off.
‘When they do they often enter deep sleep immediately and have intense dream cycles, occasionally even going lucid.’
A recommendation for Scorpio is for at least eight hours where possible.

9. SAGITTARIUS (NOV 23 – DEC 21)
Free-spirited Sagittarius are known for their love of adventure – whether this is undertaking a new project, building a business or embarking on an action-packed overseas holiday.
While in the midst of such activities, sleep often falls to the bottom of the priority list with six hours a night being the total amount they’ll allocate to rest.
However, once a period of activity has slowed down or stopped completely, it’s advised they aim for eight hours to function at their best.
10. CAPRICORN (DEC 22 – JAN 20)
Responsibility and predictability are two of Capricorns defining traits which means for them sleep tends to be a regimented affair.
‘This means that they’re an eight hour a night kind of person, and will probably have a nightly sleep hygiene routine that they work through before nodding off, too,’ Bed Threads wrote.
As well as indulging in a solid nightly slumber, the predictable Capricorn is likely to have a set bedtime and waking routine they stick to without fail.
11. AQUARIUS (JAN 21 – FEB 29)
Aquarius are naturally inquisitive and their intelligent natures can mean their minds are constantly whirring.
Because they are always on, switching off can be hard and as such sleep can be difficult to come by.
They can function just fine on six hours a night, but it would be better for their overall wellbeing if they could squeeze in seven or eight hours where possible.
12. PISCES (FEB 20 – MAR 20)
Pisces are the dreamers of the zodiac, a quality that’s tied to their ability to be creative, emphatic and intuitive.
Their keen imagination and escapist streak means this sign doesn’t just need sleep, they look forward to it.
For those born under this house, sleep is a must and they need at least eight hours to feel fully recharged.
