At least 15 serving or former police officers have killed women since 2009, research suggests.
Most cases involving men who had worked in the police were homicides of partners, according to The Femicide Census, which keeps track of women killed by male perpetrators in Britain.
One former police officer had smothered his mother, and another of the killings was for financial gain,
It was revealed earlier this year that a woman every week was coming forward to report domestic abuse by a partner who was in the police.

Met Police diplomatic protection officer Wayne Couzens, 48, is due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey for the killing this week after he admitted the kidnap and rape of Ns Everard, who disappeared as she walked home in Clapham, south London.
The force’s Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick described Couzens as a ‘bad ‘un’.
Co-founder of the Femicide Census, Karen Ingala Smith, said the issue went ‘way deeper’ than that, criticising ‘disbelieving attitudes that enable rapists’.
She said: ‘This is not the problem of a few ”bad ‘uns” but systemic and institutional sexism. The Femicide Census has shown that even murder of a woman was not a one off.’
Census data revealed ten murders by police officers, ex police officers and a former special constable since 2009.
Manslaughter cases included Timothy Brehmer, who was cleared of murder after strangling his long-term lover.
Brehmer, 41, described as a ‘womaniser’ in court, was alleged to have ‘angrily’ throttled nurse Claire Parry in his car in West Parley, Dorset, in May – moments after she texted his detective wife ‘I’m cheating on you’ from his phone.

But although the police constable used enough force to fracture her neck in three places, jurors in Salisbury decided he had not intended to kill Mrs Parry.
After a 12-day trial, Brehmer was acquitted of murder after jurors deliberated for two hours and 50 minutes. However, the police officer of 17 years admitted killing mother-of-two Mrs Parry by manslaughter.
Most cases involved the homicide of an intimate partner, an ex-partner or spouse, often by strangulation, typically involving former officers.
