The TV personality, 54, revealed she joined the indurance show as a way of pressing the ‘reset’ button on her life, after feeling dejection, sadness and despondency.
Before joining the programme, Ulrika revealed she would feel ‘physically sick’, watching episodes of the show which she admitted ‘frightened’ her.
After being stripped of her belongings, it sounds like Ulrika found the release she was looking for as she says being on the show brought her ‘relief’.

Explaining her decision to join the show, Ulrika said: ‘Dejection, sadness, despondency and bleakness was enveloping my heart and mind, triggered by a childhood trauma and an affair of the heart.’
Ulrika revealed she was met by scoffs from her loved ones when she revealed she was taking part in the show, but was determined to find a way to begin a fresh start.
Ulrika confessed that she didn’t think she would even pass the rigorous physical and emotional tests required to take part on the show.
She continued: ‘At the time I only weighed about seven-and-a-half stone, only three times the weight of my Bergen rucksack, which meant I struggled to stand up when carrying it.

‘My weight was not a deliberate feat but perhaps brought on by stress and unhappiness.’
However she did pass them and admitted that the duty of care team on the show were ‘second to none’.
She explained that there were many conversations ahead of time about how the experience could trigger past experiences, such as being shouted at my men, being barked at by dogs and feeling claustrophobic.
Ulrika said that someone who has previously experienced domestic abuse she didn’t know how she would fare.

However determined to press on, she insisted: ‘I’m no diva, so the idea of ‘rough-ing it’ in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides posed no panic in my heart. I’m a Swede. We are nature people. If needs be, we s* in the woods — there are no airs with me, and zero graces.’
The TV star also admitted that being stripped of her belongings was a ‘relief’ as she was left with just a spare bra and pair of underpants.

Taking to Twitter back in May, he penned: ‘After 5 incredible years I’ve decided it’s time to move on from SAS Who Dares Wins UK. Big respect to my fellow DS – it’s been a journey I’ll never forget.
‘Thanks to everyone that took part and made the show what it is. Really excited about the future and what’s coming this year.’
