Rachel Bloom has undergone breast reduction surgery.

The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star has been very vocal about her ‘complicated’ relationship with her DD breasts – even penning the song Heavy Boobs for her Netflix show.

In the first image, Rachel posed topless to show the surgical markings on her chest as she prepared to go into surgery.

A second snap was taken post-op and saw Rachel lying in bed wearing a surgical bra and binding.

Rachel still had the surgical markings visible on her chest as she smiled up at the camera after coming round from anesthesia.

The comedienne has spoken publicly about her relationship with her breasts, admitting that although she used to wish for bigger breasts a child, she ended up lamenting them in later life.

Rachel expressed her thoughts in the foreword for Dangerous Boobies: Breaking Up With My Time-Bomb Breasts – Caitlin Brodnick’s memoir about testing positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation.

She penned: ‘Having been boy crazy from a young age, I was delighted when the boys I pined for finally started to notice me, with my boobs drawing their eyes to my more important but subtler features, such as my smile and personality.

‘As I got older and gained weight/went on birth control, my boobs grew from a modest B to a “Why do I look skanky even in a T-shirt?” DD. Sometimes, they’re big in a cartoonish way that doesn’t feel like they’re a part of my body.

‘So, when I became a comedian, I had a choice: be objectified against my will or take charge of my image and show them off with an ironic brazenness.’

Rachel then penned the song Heavy Boobs which featured in her Netflix musical comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, in which she plays Rebecca Bunch, a successful young woman who impulsively gives up her life in New York and moves to California in hopes of winning her old boyfriend back.

In one episode, Rachel’s character Rebecca is trying on bridesmaid dresses when another character, Valenica, remarks enviously on her chest size.

Rebecca then breaks into song to explain why having big, heavy boobs can sometimes be a drag.

Rachel said previously: 'When you have big boobs, you're a sexual object even when you don't want to be. I would walk down the street in New York in just a T-shirt and get catcalls'

‘I got them heavy boobs, heavy boobs, dense like dying stars. I got them heavy boobs, heavy boobs, I can’t run real far,’ she sings as the musical number starts, standing in line with four dancers dressed in matching cutoff shorts and colorful low-cut T-shirts.

Each of the busty ladies also seems to be wearing an ill-fitting bra to create maximum bounce as they dance around and, comically, show off their assets.

Changing into a lab coat, she sings to the camera: ‘Let me break down what I just said: Each of my double D’s has the volume of a toddler’s head.

‘Not b****in’ bout my boobies, they look super fly in shirts, but if I swung them in your face, you’d be like “omigod that hurts”.’

She then hilariously demonstrates by knocking her chest into the face of another dancer before breaking into the ‘heavy boobs’ chorus again.

‘They each have their own memoirs,’ she adds this time, holding up two books. The first, over her right breast, is titled ‘Large and in Charge’, while the second, over her left breast, is called ‘Slightly Smaller Than the Right’.

Then, in case you anyone thought the dancers jumping around and letting their breasts bounce was sexy, Rachel puts an end to that fast.

‘What you gotta know is that boobs may be where it’s at, but if you cut them open they’re just sacks of yellow fat,’ she sings. ‘Stuff falls into my bra, it’s a little bit of a drag, but when I got to bed at night it’s like opening a Mary Poppins bag.’

Rachel spoke about her decision to pen the song in an interview with Playboy magazine, as she spoke about her experiences being sexualised by strangers.

She mused: ‘When you have big boobs, you’re a sexual object even when you don’t want to be. I would walk down the street in New York in just a T-shirt and get catcalls.

‘It truly feels like you are being physically violated. Boobs sexualise you when it’s not on your own terms.

‘Then there’s the physical part of it: Having these giant sacs on your body can be painful. They’re tied to your hormones, to your reproductive system.

‘PMSing is a real thing, and it can be awful. Boobs are not just these disembodied bags of fat to be used as playthings for guys.’

Rachel’s breast reduction surgery comes a year after she welcomed her first child, a daughter, in April last year with husband Dan Gregor.

She has not revealed her daughter’s name, but announced her arrival with the post ‘She’s here. She’s home.

‘Having a baby in the NICU during a pandemic while a dear friend was in the hospital 3,000 miles away made this by far the most emotionally intense week of mine and Gregor’s lives.’
