According to Jimmy his desire to look good and dress well stems from his childhood and teachings from his father, Jimmy Senior.

The former Fulham and Hull City midfielder added: ‘I’ve always tried to look as good as I can. I was taught that by my dad — “Be as fit as you can, never look untidy”.

‘The fashion, I’ve always liked it. You’re in front of camera, always try and look good. My image has always been big for me.’

However, the Sky’s Soccer AM presenter admitted his image has changed since his Premier League football days as he now sports a ‘man bun’.

And in 2016, the retired footballer revealed former club Hull ‘changed his life’ by paying him up to an extra £15,000 a week by mistake.

The former midfielder was quoted in British newspapers, recalling that when the time came to sign his contract he found he would be paid £55,000 a week, rather than the £40,000 agreed.

‘I saw on the paperwork it said £50,000 so I’ve passed it under the table to my agent and my agent’s gone, “Yeah, that’s a misprint, sign it”,’ he said.

‘As I signed it I blew it (the ink) dry and then I read under it as well, another £5,000 or £6,000 in appearance (money).

He played 18 league games for Hull, who are top of the Championship and hoping to win promotion back to the Premier League this season, before joining Ipswich in August 2011.
