Paul Gascoigne has revealed that he nearly fell out of a helicopter after forgetting to buckle his seatbelt before lift off.

‘I’m scared of flying at the best of times and always say a little prayer before take off,’ the TV personality quipped to The Sun.

‘But I was chatting to the pilot as we were taking off so I must have forgotten my seat belt. My career and family flashed in front of my eyes — but I managed to hold on and slide the door closed.’

Paul added that despite being fairly confident he would survive the fall, he feared he may be eaten by sharks once in the ocean.

The popular show is filmed on the sunny shores of Cayos Cochinos, Honduras.

Paul was rushed to the hospital last month when he injured himself during an endurance game.

The sportsman has since been forced to quit his role on the show, around one month after making his debut.
