Vanessa Kirby: Princess Margaret role made me see female representation poor in TV

Vanessa Kirby believes her role as Princess Margaret in Netflix‘s The Crown helped her realise a problem with female representation on screen.

Speaking to PORTER magazine, the actress, 32, talked about how she and her on-screen sister Claire Foy experienced the same feelings of empowerment on the historical drama – something they had not felt before.

Vanessa recalled: ‘Claire asked me, ‘Do you feel really empowered on this?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I actually feel like I have space to do the work I’ve always wanted to’.

Slide in to summer wearing Bottega Veneta sandals like Vanessa

Spring has only just arrived, so you may not be thinking about exposing your feet to the elements, but you can never shop too early for summer sandals.

Just like last year, we expect to see everyone stepping out in Bottega Veneta’s leather slides, so it’s worth checking out the ones Vanessa Kirby is wearing for PORTER magazine.

Styled by Marquessa Lucas-Box in a plethora of high-end looks, the actress’ black leather slides were by far our favourite piece.

You will have to splash the cash on a pair as they don’t come cheap, so if you want to get the look for less, head to the carousel. The high street has designed their own dupes, and we’ve rounded up the best from Zara, New Look and more.

While Vanessa played Princess Margaret in The Crown’s first and second seasons, Claire portrayed Queen Elizabeth II for the same tenure.

The roles were taken over in seasons three-four by Helena Bonham-Carter and Olivia Colman respectively.
