Nancy’s son Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) is currently incarcerated for Jordan’s murder making the blow-out all the more shocking.

Mandy has been desperate to clear her daughter’s name ever since discovering she took Jordan’s life, with her secrecy coming to a head on Friday when Darren came across a note from Charlie in which he threatened to expose Ella.

The letter, which was tucked into Ella’s notebook, fell to the ground as Darren removed it from his pocket, wanting to go over his wedding speech.

Despite Mandy’s best efforts, Darren read Charlie’s letter, drawing the attention of Nancy, who overheard her son’s name.

In a preview of Monday night’s episode, Mandy desperately tries to explain herself to Nancy, sobbing: ‘Ella has been my constant. The only unconditional thing in my life.

‘Through everything. All the chaos of Luke’s drinking, my step-brother going off the rails. She’s the only thing I’m proud of, and I want her to have a decent future.’

Fighting Charlie’s corner, Nancy fiercely told Mandy: ‘He’s a teenager! He’s frightened! He wants to come home.’

She also scolds Mandy for using the death of her first daughter Grace as an excuse for keeping Ella’s crimes secret: ‘I know about loss. My heart is scarred by loss. I am so weighed down by grief it is a struggle to get out of bed in the morning.

‘Ella came clean a few days later. She didn’t want Charlie to pay for what she’d done, but Charlie insisted. He was so brave and I’ve got so much respect for him,’ she desperately told an appalled Nancy.
