‘When I started treatment my hair started to fall out, so after a morning at the hospital I came home and told @being_kelsey to shave my head.

Explaining his emotional reaction, he said: ‘I remember this so vividly, I felt like part of me was being taken away as I saw the hair drop to the floor. There were tears.’

Tom explained that he masked his appearance with hats at first because he felt like he was wearing a ‘badge’ which told people about his diagnosis.

He said: ‘I wore hats for the first couple of months as I was embarrassed by my appearance. I know it sounds silly for a man to be so bothered by baldness when I was facing so much more but to me it felt like I was wearing a badge of baldness that shouted ‘ I HAVE CANCER’

‘So here I am facing my fears and laying myself bare. I have accepted my baldness and i now wear this ‘new do’ with pride. It’s a trophy of what I have overcome and what I have yet to beat.’

Kelsey shared a sweet picture of Tom smiling and holding their two children in his arms, as she detailed how she deals through the ‘horrendous days’.

‘At the time I thought what on earth does he even mean, my husband has just been told he has stage 4 cancer?! However I now know exactly what he meant and those words ring so true to me.

Kelsey admitted that some days she just goes to the bathroom and cries, while detailing her good and bad days.

‘Every day is a new day. Some bad, some totally horrendous and some days are good days. People say to me ‘I don’t know how you do it?’ I’ll be honest with you. I don’t know either, there are days I go to the bathroom and cry.

She sweetly added: ‘I’m not ashamed to admit that. I do know that these three human beings who am so lucky to call mine, they are my reasons for everything. They get me through the horrendous days, the bad days and we bloody enjoy the good days.

‘My heart beams with pride when I look at how far my husband has come- he really is my inspiration. One step at a time, it’s ok to take each day as it comes. #glioblastomaawareness #glioblastoma.’

The post came hours after Tom revealed he has had his first Covid vaccination.

Tom, who recently revealed his stage four tumour has ‘significantly reduced’ and is ‘responding well’ to treatment, urged fans to ‘just get it done so we can move on with our lives.’
