Bridgerton and The Crown are reportedly ‘competing’ for the same stately homes to film their next seasons in.

The two Netflix hits have both seen huge success and have already used the same locations, including Somerley Estate in Hampshire and Wilton House in Wiltshire.

They said: ‘Given these two feature similar backdrops, it was only time before they ended up treading on the other’s toes.

‘But Netflix will be keen everything is sorted as the last thing anyone needs are more delays.’

‘There are only so many stately homes that work for filming. It’s a real headache.’

The source added that it will be the shows’ production companies call when the cast are called in to film and to decide the scheduling.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Netflix to ask for a comment.

Both of the hit shows used Somerley Estate for scenes, with The Crown turning it into the Prince of Wales’s royal residence Highgrove during series four.

While in Bridgerton, which stars Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne and Rege-Jean Page as the Duke of Hastings, it was portrayed as Somerset House.

Another locations to two Netflix shows share is Wilton House in Wiltshire which was used to portray Buckingham Palace in The Crown.

Bridgerton used the stately home for four locations in its first series, including as the exterior of the Duke of Hasting’s home and the interior of his marital residence with Daphne, Clyvedon.

Scenes at the fictional Clyvedon were also filmed at Castle Howard, North Mymms Park, and Badminton House, reports House Beautiful.

Other locations used include Ranger’s House in Greenwich, London, as the exterior of the stunning Bridgerton family abode.

Holburne Museum of Art was used for Lady Danbury’s home, however interior scenes were shot at Badminton House and Wilton House.

It comes as Bridgerton was revealed to have been watched by a whopping 82million households worldwide in just a month, making it Netflix‘s biggest show ever.

Netflix’s other hits including The Queen’s Gambit and Lupin have also received very healthy numbers following their launches, boasting 62m and 70m respectively, reports Deadline

Reflecting on the timing of Bridgerton’s release amid the pandemic, head of drama Jinny said: ‘I do think that I am seeing a pivot in terms of people wanting things to feel a little more aspirational and just escapist and feel good.

‘It’s hard to know where we’ll be a couple years from now, but I think that this is going to be the trend for a while. I imagine it’s going to continue to go this blue sky, feel-good route.’

It comes after the hit Regency drama was confirmed for a second series, this time following Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love.
