Dave Chappelle has tested POSITIVE for coronavirus

Dave Chappelle has tested positive for COVID-19.

A representative for the 47-year-old comedian confirmed the news to TMZ on Thursday, adding that Chappelle has ‘not yet experienced any symptoms’ of the virus.

Although he is ‘currently quarantined,’ Dave appeared to flout COVID-19 protocols as he hung out backstage with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Grimes at Stubb’s Amphitheater in Texas.

In a photograph shared to Instagram on Tuesday, Dave looked presumably healthy as he posed with his arm around fellow comedian Joe Rogan, while Elon and Grimes cozied up next to them.

Grimes’ presence at Stubb’s Amphitheater was sure to raise some eyebrows being that the 32-year-old musician revealed on January 9 that she had been battling COVID-19, herself.

She made the announcement nonchalantly in her Instagram Stories, where she joked that she was ‘weirdly enjoying’ her sick time

‘Finally got COVID but weirdly enjoying the DayQuil fever dream 2021,’ Grimes captioned her post, adding a plant and fairy emoji.

She did not disclose whether or not Musk, whom she shares son X Æ A-Xii with, had also tested positive for the potentially deadly virus.

Whether or not Dave may have caught the virus from his famous friends is unknown.

But his positive diagnosis has forced him to cancel his remaining stand up shows at Stubb’s Amphitheater, which were originally scheduled to take place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

He performed the first of his five stand-up shows in Texas on Wednesday night.

According to TMZ, refunds will be offered to those with tickets to the now cancelled performances, all of which included Rogan as a co-headliner.

Though many comedians have hit pause of their scheduled standup tours, Dave has continued to bring comedy to the masses, starting with his native Ohio last June.

Before gaining admittance to the venues, comedy show attendees – as well as Chappelle and his crew – were subjected to rapid COVID-19 tests.

News of Dave’s COVID-19 battle comes just one month after his beloved sketch series the Chappelle Show was removed entirely from HBO Max’s extensive streaming library.

Casey Bloys, chief content officer of HBO and HBO Max, revealed the decision during the keynote conversation on day one of Variety’s Virtual FYCFest.

‘We had a conversation with Dave,’ Bloys revealed. ‘I won’t get into it, but it’s very clear that it’s a very unique and specific and emotional issue he’s got.’

It comes after Chappelle recently asked Netflix to remove the same series from their platform.

During a stand-up special, which thestar  shared on social media last month, the comedian explained why he was ‘furious’ to learn that it was being streamed, as well as his reasoning to have his most famous work pulled off the popular service.

Netflix obliged and Chappelle’s Show fans will no longer be able to stream the iconic sketch series – which originally ran on Comedy Central.
