Billionaire oil heir Nats Getty has come out as transgender and non-binary after undergoing surgery to remove their breasts as part of the physical transition.
The 28-year-old model and socialite, who was born female, shared a photo on Instagram showing the top surgery scars and documented the operation in a YouTube video as part of the announcement.
Getty, whose given name is Natalia, is the great-grandchild of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty and child of philanthropist Ariadne Getty.
The model is married to transgender YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous.
Getty detailed the ’emotional and exciting’ decision in an Instagram post, saying: ‘I have spent my entire life not in sync with the body I was born with and confined by an outwardly appearance that did not match my mind or soul.
‘It wasn’t until recently that I was even comfortable admitting this to myself, once I was able to look inwards and truly reflect on my authentic self.’

Getty explained the decision to undergo top surgery, describing the procedure as the start of the physical transition.
‘This surgery is something I have wanted for years and I can’t believe I will finally have the chest I have always dreamed of,’ Getty said.
The socialite acknowledged that it was a ‘privilege that I’m even able to move forward with this when for many it’s an impossible option due to their circumstance.
‘It’s not lost on me the many people who are having to navigate this alone and in silence.’
Getty said the ‘physical transition is new, so I’m taking my time to discover my most authentic self and which pronouns best suit me.
‘But for now, I know one thing is for certain I am Nats. To my trans brothers and sisters and non-binary family: I am here for you, I am here with you, and I love you.’
Getty’s wife Gigi shared a second image of the couple on her own Instagram page that read: ‘Can’t even begin to express how happy, proud and in awe I am of you, Nats.’
Gigi also posted a video on her YouTube page documenting Getty undergoing top surgery in San Francisco.

In the video, Getty said: ‘I am allowing myself time with my new body to decide what pronouns best suit me.
‘During this time, some people refer to me as she/her and I don’t find it insulting because I am still on my journey of figuring out what pronouns work for me.’
The couple were joined on their road trip to San Francisco by a few close friends, including Gottmik, also known as Kade Gottlieb, who made history as the first trans man to star RuPaul’s Drag Race, appearing on the current 13th season.
Getty, who godfather is California Gov Gavin Newsom, married Gigi back in July 2020 in a lavish Santa Barbara ceremony.
Getty’s great-grandfather, oil magnate J. Paul Getty, was the richest man in the world before he died in 1976 with an estimated wealth of between $700 million and $1 billion at the time.
The wealthy Getty family have managed to maintain a significant share of the family fortune but the money has not shielded subsequent generations from drug addiction, premature death, tabloid scandal and violent attacks.
The long line of tragedies that have plagued the family have led some to speak of a ‘Getty curse’.
Nats Getty’s uncle John Paul Getty III, was sensationally kidnapped for ransom as a teenager in 1973. The terrifying tale was brought to the big screen by Ridley Scott in the film All the Money in the World.
Just afterward: The video also showed Nats on the day of operation

He was just 16 years old and living in Italy when members of the Italian mafia grabbed him off the street on July 10, 1973 as he returned home from a night out with friends.
He was thrown in the back of the van and taken 300 miles south to the mountains of Calabria, with his captors soon informing the teenager’s family that the boy would be safely returned after they paid a $17 million ransom.
His oil tycoon grandfather refused to pay the ransom, telling reporters at the time: ‘If I pay one penny now, I’ll have 14 kidnapped grandchildren.’
The family patriarch only agreed to pay a negotiated amount after the kidnappers cut off John Paul Getty III’s ear and mailed it to his family.
John Paul Getty III was finally released after four months in captivity.
He later suffered a debilitating stroke that paralyzed him. He died in 2011 at the age of 54.
Most recently, Nats Getty’s uncle John Gilbert Getty was found unresponsive in a hotel room in San Antonio, Texas in November last year.
The cause of death is yet to be determined but foul play is not suspected.
TRAGIC HISTORY OF THE GETTY FAMILY ‘CURSE’
ABDUCTION DRAMA: John Paul Getty III, the grandson of the family patriarch, was sensationally kidnapped in Rome in 1973, aged 16.
When his notoriously tight-fisted grandfather refused to pay ransom, the abductors cut off the boy’s ear and mailed it to his family. Getty eventually relented and paid a $3million ransom.
The teenager survived but began using drugs and suffered a debilitating stroke in his 20s. He died aged 54.
CHILD DEATH: The oil baron’s youngest child, Timothy Ware Getty, suffered a brain tumour aged six and died at the age of 12 in 1958.
Getty’s then-wife Teddy, a former nightclub singer, later wrote in a memoir that the tycoon had admonished her over the boy’s expensive medical bills.
They divorced soon after Timothy’s death, but Teddy lived until 2017 when she died aged 103. Another of Getty’s sons, George, died in a suspected suicide in 1973.
HEROIN DEATH: Talitha Pol, a Dutch actress who married J. Paul Getty Jr in 1966, died of a heroin overdose five years later in 1971.
Pol had lived her own jet-setting life and was the subject of a famous photo with her husband on a Marrakech rooftop in 1969.
SECOND FAMILY: Gordon Getty had his own brush with scandal in 1999 when the father of four sons with his wife, Ann, acknowledged he had a second family in Los Angeles that included three daughters.
The acknowledgement came after the daughters filed court papers to change their last names to Getty.
FOUND DEAD AT HOME: Andrew Getty, another grandson of the oil tycoon, was found dead by his girlfriend at his Hollywood Hills mansion in 2015. He was 47.
Coroners found he had died of an accidental intestinal haemorrhage and also had a toxic level of methamphetamine in his system.
HOTEL ROOM DEATH: John Gilbert Getty, another grandson of the oil tycoon, was found unresponsive in a hotel room in San Antonio, Texas in November last year.
