Loyal to the end! Kellyanne Conway defends Trump during sit-down interview with Bill Maher

Kellyanne Conway is defending President Trump as he prepares to leave the White House under a cloud of scandal.

The former Special Counselor to the President – who quit her high-powered post last August – sat down for an interview with Bill Maher Friday night saying she believes her former boss pushed policies that positively impacted the country.

‘You can’t deny that many people are better off,’ Conway, 53, stated during Maher’s Real Time program

She said the Trump Administration rebuilt the military, presided over a record-breaking economy, killed top terrorists and alleviated poverty.

‘The real disappointment for people like me is that the last two months weren’t spent mostly talking about the accomplishments,’ she added.

However, Conway conceded that she wished Trump had been quicker to quell the siege that occurred at the U.S Capitol Building last Thursday.

‘I wish the president had spoken with the people earlier to get them the hell out of there,’ she stated.

Conway – who blasted the rioters on Twitter shortly after they stormed the government building – stated: ‘Last week was horrible. It was inexcusable, disgraceful. I made that very clear. Justice should be served.’

But she insisted that the rioters were a fringe group who were not representative of the tens of millions of people who voted for Trump last Novembers.

‘I think those murders and marauders insult, not represent, the Trump movement,’ she declared.

’74 million [people who voted for Trump] is not a base – it’s a large percentage of this country.’

Conway went on to claim that Trump was a champion for the ‘forgotten man and woman’.

‘People shouldn’t be mocked for what they wear, how they eat, where they eat, or what they look like,’ she stated.

‘The Trump people are constantly mocked and they felt like they had someone who was giving them more voice and visibility. If you can match that with policy gains, with deregulation and lower taxes where it matters, I think his legacy with the policy stuff will survive.’

Conway claimed she had no regrets about working for Trump.

‘For me, I look at the good that was done to impact people’s lives positively. I think government is messy, but I’m happy that I worked for a president who kept the Oval Office door open to many of us. I didn’t win every policy debate, but I was heard.’

The political consultant is now spending time with her family after leaving her job last August.

Her husband, George Conway, is an outspoken anti-Trump Republican who has called the President ‘evil’ and ‘delusional’.

Meanwhile, the couple’s teenage daughter, Claudia Conway, also hit headlines last year for creating TikTok videos in which she also slammed Trump.
