Mark Hamill reveals it was a ‘miracle’ that his surprise cameo in The Mandalorian wasn’t leaked

Fans of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian were given quite the shocking surprise when Mark Hamill returned as Luke Skywalker.

The series is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, with Skywalker making his return to track down young Grogu, a.k.a. Baby Yoda.

The 69-year-old actor took to Twitter on Saturday, just a day after the episode aired on DIsney Plus, revealing he had been sitting on that secret for more than a year.

First, on Friday morning, Hamill cryptically tweeted, ‘Seen anything good on TV lately?’

The Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian debuted at midnight on Friday morning, with many fans staying up late to be among the first to watch the finale.

Hamill then returned to Twitter on Saturday, sending out a photo of him with a finger to his mouth.

‘The fact that we were able to keep my involvement a secret for over a year with no leaks is nothing less than a miracle,’ Hamill said.

He added that the secret being kept was, ‘A real triumph for spoiler-haters everywhere!’

The actor concluded his humorous post with the hashstags #LooseLipsSinkStarships and #STFU.

A few episodes prior, when fans got their first look at a live-action Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), she told The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) to take Grogu to a temple.

She added that if he reaches out through ‘The Force,’ it’s possible that another Jedi could sense his presence and find him.

While Grogu did reach out through The Force, he was taken by Moff Gideon (Giancaralo Esposito), leading Mando, Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) to try and rescue Grogu.

During the episode’s final moments, they all watch as this hooded Jedi destroyed all of Moff GIdeon’s Dark Troopers, before revealing himself as Luke Skywalker.

He then took Grogu to start his training as a Jedi master, as Mando and Grogu said their goodbyes before the season came to a close.

Disney has already renewed The Mandalorian for Season 3, while also setting up a spin-off centering on Ahsoka Tano.
