Ivanka Trump braves the rain to deliver food to hungry families

Ivanka Trump didn’t let the damp Virginia weather rain on her parade on Monday morning, when she braved the wet conditions to help pack up boxes of food for hungry families.

The 39-year-old First Daughter was pictured lending a hand to the Farmers to Families program, loading a large box of food into the back of a vehicle after meeting with the organization’s volunteers at Christ Chapel Church in Woodbridge.

Ivanka was more than prepared for the less-than-desirable conditions, having bundled up in a thick black coat, black trousers, and black rain boots for her visit – for which she also donned a matching face mask.

She left her blonde locks loose in a straight style around her shoulders, and, despite getting stuck into some manual labor, she still ramped up the glam with a smokey eye and lashings of mascara.

After helping to load up the boxes of food, Ivanka also assisted with the delivery process, joining a host of other volunteers taking the 500 packages out to local people in need.

According to Carolina Hurley, special assistant to the President, the boxes that Ivanka helped to hand out contained milk, butter, sour cream, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheddar, mozzarella, apples, cucumbers, onions, potatoes, chicken meatballs, chicken chili, chicken franks, chicken and pork franks, and eggs.

Ahead of her visit to the USDA program, which she helped to spearhead, Ivanka took to Instagram to praise its work over the past year, writing: ‘Through our #FarmerstoFamilies Food Box Program 125m boxes of farm fresh produce, meat, and dairy have been delivered to 16,000 food banks, NGOs and faith-based organizations.

‘Farmers to Families has resulted in 3.2 billion meals served to hungry Americans.’

Under the program, which was launched amid the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the USDA buys produce, meat, and dairy products from farmers across the US, before distributing the food to people in need through food banks, NGOs, and religious organizations.

Ivanka’s outing comes amid speculation that she is eyeing a run for the Senate in Florida in 2022.

The businesswoman could be set to challenge Marco Rubio in the race after it was reported that she would like a political career of her own after working for her father as an advisor during his presidency.

It comes after it was revealed that she and her husband Jared Kushner have bought a plot of land in Miami.

A source told CNN: ‘Ivanka definitely has political ambitions, no question about it. She wants to run for something, but that still needs to be figured out.’

Florida might offer one potential opportunity for her when Republican Rubio’s seat is up for re-election in 2022.

Rubio was a harsh critic of Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican nomination race but later became a loyal supporter of Trump once he had the won election.

Adam C Smith, former Tampa Bay Times journalist, told the publication: ‘I think she’d be the immediate frontrunner if she ran for US Senate against Rubio, given her father’s popularity in the Sunshine State.’

With Ivanka’s father set to leave the White House in a little more than five weeks, speculation has been rampant about the future of not just the outgoing President but what his influential daughter and son-in-law, who took on roles as senior White House advisers, will do next.

While it was once thought that the couple would return to New York City and resume their pre-White House lives on the Manhattan social scene, reports now suggest that they could relocate elsewhere – with Florida seen as the front-runner for the family’s new home base.

The Kushners reportedly purchased a $31 million plot of land on Miami’s ‘Billionaire Bunker.’

According to Page Six, the couple put money down on a $31.8 million land plot nestled in Indian Creek, a highly exclusive neighborhood that touts beautiful waterfront homes and tons of privacy.

The island, found off the coast of Miami, got the nickname ‘Billionaire Bunker’ because of the high-profile residents that have settled onto the island, including model Adriana Lima and billionaire businessman Carl Icahn of New York City.

Indian Creek Village holds the reputation as ‘the world’s most exclusive municipality.’ The island has only 34 homes, around 42 residents and its own private 13-person police force.

The local authorities run patrols around the island on land and an around-the-clock armed marine patrol supervises the waters surrounding the island.

Each home on Indian Creek is built around the perimeter of the island to ensure that all residents have a waterfront view, while the middle is occupied with the luxurious Indian Creek Country Club and a 18-hole golf course.

Indian Creek is only accessible by a single bridge that is guarded by a gatehouse and for every three residents there is one police officer.

Page Six reports that Jared and Ivanka, who have three children together, bought Lot 4 on the Indian Creek, which previously belonged to singer Julio Iglesias, to build their new home.

A listing for the plot of land measures it at 1.84 acres with 200 feet of private waterfront. Taxes are reportedly $427,000 a year.

A source told Page Six that the Kushners have viewed numerous properties in Florida as many of their friends have fled New York City for the Sunshine State and the Hamptons.

‘The Kushners have been looking to purchase property in Florida for quite some time, and will also maintain their home in New York,’ the source said.

But the shift away from New York City’s social scene could be in anticipation of an icy reception, with Ivanka’s best friend saying that the return could be ‘difficult.’

The Kushners have spent their time living in the DC’s esteemed Kalorama neighborhood, where they’ve rented a home for $15,000 a month from millionaire Andrónico Luksic.

The couple still owns a New York City apartment on Park Avenue, as well as a cottage at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
