‘It has been an issue with me for years’: Made In Chelsea star Maeva D’Ascanio has revealed how she is ‘really struggling’ with a secret eating disorder
Speaking to MailOnline, Maeva, who grew up in Paris, said: ‘It has been an issue with me for years. I am in this situation and I am really struggling right now.
‘It’s because of so many different factors. I am really, really close to my mum, she is absolutely amazing but I always watched her eating and she had this thing where she didn’t eat at all during the day but at night she would eat a lot and it has been like that for years.
‘I got a bit disturbed in my head because I didn’t know what to do.’
Maeva explained that being raised by Spanish and Italian parents, who have a lust for food, often meant she overindulged and struggled to know her limits.

She said: ‘My parents are Spanish and Italian and for them their daughter being on a diet and being healthy, they didn’t get it.
‘They wanted their daughter to take care of herself but to enjoy life. They eat big meals and pasta, they love it – I have food in me, it’s something I really love.
‘But I need balance in my life. I need control and to know my limits. It’s just my personality.
‘I know I have this type of body, I know I’m not fat at all but I put on weight, my weight is a yo-yo, I put on weight, I lose weight, I put on weight, I lose weight, and I’m done with that and I want a balance and to eat healthier.’
The Chelsea star joined the series as the ex-girlfriend of Miles Nazaire, 24, and is now in a long-term relationship with James Taylor, 25.

Maeva moved in with James at the start of the first lockdown – but they have recently struggled to see eye-to-eye over the future of their relationship.
And Maeva believes that seeing James snack on unhealthy treats at home doesn’t help her current condition as she ends up giving into temptation.
She added: ‘I see James eating chocolate and biscuits and it is so hard for me to control myself. When I’m with him it’s a bit of an issue.’
Maeva explained to MailOnline that she hopes to open up about her difficulties with control and living a balanced life on the E4 show and to her 80K followers.

‘We started to live together in the last lockdown and everything was fine until the moment he was honest with me and he had cold feet about what he wanted to do and I got really, really stressed about it. It’s still my problem right now.
‘Deep down, I think he is The One but we are living through so many ups and downs that sometimes I have big doubts.
‘I am 28, I have started to think about kids and marriage and sometimes I forget that he’s only 25. Of course, age and maturity are two different things but I want to do things, I want commitment.’
