Lupita Nyong’o is pretty in pink in rainy New York City as she prepares to head to LA for the Oscars

She’s racking up a fair amount of air miles ahead of her presenting gig at the Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday.

On Thursday, Lupita Nyong’o was spotted in New York City following a trip to London, England, earlier in the week for a literacy event in partnership with Lancome.

The  actress, 36, braved the Big Apple rain in an eye-catching pink coat and colorful dress for her outing in the SoHo neighborhood.

Lupita made an equally dashing statement with her choice of purple heels with bows on top and she carried a large pale pink leather purse.

She accessorized with drop earrings and large sunglasses and wore a splash of red lip color.

Fans of the star were upset last month when she was left out of the Oscar nominations after receiving critical acclaim for her performance in Jordan Peele’s horror movie Us.

Lupita, of course, won a best supporting actress Oscar for the drama 12 Years A Slave in 2014.

While it may have been six years ago, the Kenyan-Mexican actress still vividly recalls the moment her name was read out as the winner of the Academy Award.

She was so shocked she initially covered her face with her hands as those around her, including John Travolta, Brad Pitt and her brother, rushed to congratulate her.

‘I remember being very disoriented and then Liza Minnelli grabbed me and gave me the biggest hug. And I was like, `Wonderful. Thank you. Nice to meet you,” she told the AP.
