Jameela Jamil cancels Candace Owens’ appearance on podcast as she accuses her of ‘inciting hatred’

The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil has cancelled the appearance of a right-wing commentator and activist on her podcast after accusing her of ‘inciting hatred’.

Jamil uninvited Candace Owens, who is known for her criticisms of the Black Lives Matter movement and the Democratic party, from participating on her podcast.

Owens wrote on Twitter: ‘Sad to announce that Jameela Jamil has revoked my invitation on her podcast because I tweeted ”only women can given birth”.

‘Apparently the statement made her trans co-workers feel  ”unsafe”.

‘My refusal to untether myself from biological realities has cost me, yet again. Sad.’

The abrupt cancellation stemmed from an argument between the pair the day before which began when Owens shared an article with the headline: ‘Transgender man gives birth to non-binary partner’s baby with female sperm donor’.

Owens, who has 1.9million followers, shared the article and commented: ‘Woman gives birth to partner’s baby with male sperm donor.

‘There. I fixed it for you.’

Owens announced the cancellation alongside a screenshot of a text from Jamil to Owens’ rep which read: ‘Sorry. We have trans people working with us. I can’t have Candace on the podcast anymore.

‘You are both free to say whatever you like about this publicly. I’m sure you will have an entertaining spin.

‘But nothing is worth my friends and coworkers feeling unsafe. J.’

Jamil responded, although her tweet has now been deleted, to say: ‘Or… Nice to see a young couple in love, have a happy little baby. Their gender is none of my business, worrying about it and mocking them is a pointless waste of time, (it’s just bullying) and they are hurting nobody. I wish them well. There I fixed it for you.’

Owens didn’t back down and came back at Jamil to say: ‘LOL ”only women can get pregnant and only men can impregnate them” is now considered a form of bullying.

‘Jameela Jamil keep us posted when 2+2=4 becomes a form of bullying as well.’

After seemingly removing tweets she initially wrote to Owens, Jamil, who has one million followers, said: ‘Your obsession with other people’s genders is a sign you are unhappy in your own life and need a target to point your fear and rage at.

‘So you pick on innocent people just getting on with their lives. Just mind your f****** business and clean up your own mess.’

One Twitter user, Omar M Khateeb, tweeted: ‘Let me get this straight. Candace Owens says ”only women can give birth” and is cancelled for her interview on Jameela Jamil’s podcasr?

‘Does that mean that my biology degree is a degree in bigotry?’

Jamil responded to say: ‘She used her two million-strong platform to belittle an innocent young trans couple having a baby.

‘Inciting mocking and hatred. So she can’t come on my podcast. I’m down to talk to those with opposing views but willful bullies are not welcome on my platform. Not sorry.’

Owens then tweeted with a list of people who blocked her last year. She wrote: ‘People that blocked me in 2019.

‘1) Chrissy Teigen. 2) Jameela Jamil. 3) AOC. 4) Alyssa Milano.

‘Safe to say that if you’re an emotionally unstable woman who functions below the IQ of 60… I won’t be your cup of tea.’

Owens, who is married to ex-Bullingdon Club member and English hedge funder George Farmer, has garnered the support from other celebrities, such as Kanye West. Last year, the rapper tweeted, ‘I love the way Candace Owens thinks.’

She is the Communications Director of Turning Point, the US nonprofit that fights for the freedom to discuss conservative values on college campuses.

And her husband, who got a first in theology at Oxford, was a candidate for Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party in the European Parliamentary elections, but didn’t win a seat.
