Detailing his plight, James continued: ‘We’re slowly wasting away, but wasting away with dignity!’

The sports star went on to detail the campmates’ battle with the jungle diet further, claiming: ‘We’re literally scraping the barrel of discovering different ways of cooking rice and beans and trying to add some flavour.

James also touched upon his surprising new friendships, admitting that he was surprising at his bond with Andrew Maxwell and Nadine Coyle.

‘Ian Wright is the person I’m closest too but he’s in the sporting world. Nadine’s a pop star and Andrew is a comedian, so I don’t really cross paths with them. They are are both so lovely!,’ he gushed.

Chloe, the daughter of TV’s Richard and Judy, previously revealed that the couple have ‘sex every night’.

When asked how he’ll cope without nookie for up to three weeks, the rugby ace responded to The Sun before entering the jungle on Sunday: ‘I think I’ll be able to stay calm.

‘When you’re on 700 calories and everything smells of smoke, I’ll be fine. I’ll just throw myself in the creek.’

The star went on to say how ‘bizarre’ it would be to not have her around and he’ll ‘miss her a lot’ as they speak ‘every day.’

He added: ‘We speak ten times a day. From the first time we met for the last five years, we’ve been pretty much inseparable and we do everything together. She is the most supportive person in the world.’

 Despite both their concerns, Chloe has revealed that she is proud of him for going on the show.

She shared a picture of herself kissing her man on Instagram as he jetted off to Australia.

Chloe wrote: ‘When you go through a lot with someone you end up somewhere remarkable. I couldn’t be prouder of you.’

The couple married on December 15 at All Saints’ Church in Berkshire.
