Lady Victoria Hervey felt ‘watched’ at Jeffrey Epstein’s home

Socialite Lady Victoria Hervey has today revealed how she once fled Jeffrey Epstein’s New York apartment amid fears that she was being ‘watched by hidden cameras’ as the storm around her ex-boyfriend Prince Andrew continues to grow.

The aristocrat, who dated Prince Andrew in 1999, claimed she was offered a place to stay in Manhattan by the convicted paedophile in 2001 but ‘cut the trip short as I felt I was being watched’.

Lady Victoria spoke to ITV’s Good Morning Britain today as sponsors continue to abandon Andrew’s campaigns following his disastrous TV interview on Saturday.

She said she met Epstein in 2000 through his alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell, who suggested she stay at the apartment while working as a model in the US.

The flat was ‘close’ to Epstein’s Manhattan mansion where Prince Andrew frequently stayed and where it is alleged the disgraced tycoon sex trafficked numerous underage girls.

She claimed that despite being unaware of his predilection for young girls at the time, she still found the experience ‘uncomfortable’ and was concerned she was being spied on at the flat.

Lady Victoria spoke a day after Epstein victim Maria Farmer claimed Epstein kept surveillance cameras in some of the rooms inside his main Manhattan mansion.

Farmer described being horrified when Epstein revealed to her a ‘media room’ which had TVs set up with feeds from pin-hole surveillance cameras in the bedrooms and bathrooms of the home.

Prince Andrew is understood to have stayed at Epstein’s mansion on several occasions, including for four days in 2011, after Epstein had been released from jail for procuring a prostitute under the age of 18.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain today, she said: ‘I actually didn’t come across any of the other girls staying at the apartments but I felt uncomfortable staying there.

‘I cut my trip short and felt I was being watched, there were hidden cameras and I left after about 10 days and moved in with a friend of mine. But even before I knew anything that’s come since out, I felt it.’

She denied suggestions that she was ‘too old’ at 23 to be a victim of Epstein, instead claiming that her ex-boyfriend’s friendship with Maxwell may have ‘protected’ her.

The former ‘it girl’ was opened up on her friendship with Maxwell, claiming she had not seen her in over a year and doubted she would ever be seen in public again.

She revealed how she was pulled into the Epstein and Maxwell’s exclusive inner circle after going on two dates with their mutual friend, the Duke of York, in 1999.

It was a year after dating the prince that she stayed by herself at Epstein’s luxury Manhattan flat at the behest of Maxwell while pursuing her stateside career.

Their friendship grew so close that Lady Hervey was even invited to an intimate dinner of 14 people hosted by Epstein, including guests such as Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew.

She said: ‘With Epstein and Ghislaine it was teamwork. He had the finances, she had the black book and they were a great pair together, and together they were taking over the world.

‘I haven’t seen her since September last year at a friend’s baby shower. I don’t think anyone is going to find her.

‘She’s gone far away. She’s a bit like a James Bond character. She’s quite a unique person and I don’t believe anyone is going to find her.

‘I don’t think we will ever see her again, it’s going to be like Robert Maxwell continued; she will continue that family mystery.’

Lady Hervey also spoke out on her ex’s disastrous BBC interview on Saturday in which he was probed about his friendship with Epstein and allegations about his own sexual misconduct.

How Duke of York’s annual meetings with Epstein including after he was sent to jail caused Prince Andrew decades of trouble

Here is a timeline of the duke’s relationship with Epstein.

– 1999

Andrew first meets Epstein, reportedly introduced through his friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of newspaper tycoon Robert Maxwell.

Andrew welcomes Epstein to the Queen’s private Scottish retreat in Aberdeenshire. Andrew later says he sees Epstein ‘infrequently’, adding ‘probably no more than only once or twice a year’.

– 2000

Andrew and Ms Maxwell are seen on holiday with Epstein at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Epstein and Ms Maxwell attend a party at Windsor Castle hosted by the Queen to mark Andrew’s 40th birthday, the Princess Royal’s 50th, the Queen Mother’s 100th and Princess Margaret’s 70th.

– 2001

Virginia Roberts claims to have had sex with Andrew ‘three times, including one orgy’, with the first encounter allegedly taking place in Ms Maxwell’s London townhouse. Ms Roberts claims to have had sex with Andrew on two more occasions, at Epstein’s New York home and at an ‘orgy’ on his private island in the Caribbean.

– 2008

Epstein admits prostituting minors and is sentenced to 18 months in prison.

– 2010

Epstein is released from jail. Andrew is photographed with the disgraced Epstein in New York’s Central Park.

Footage emerges years later, reportedly shot on December 6 2010, showing him inside Epstein’s Manhattan mansion, from where he is seen looking out from a large door of the property waving a woman goodbye after Epstein leaves to get into a chauffeur-driven car.

– 2011

The duke quits his role as UK trade envoy after the fallout from the Central Park photos.

– 2015

Buckingham Palace denies Andrew has committed any impropriety after he is named in US court documents related to Epstein. A woman, later named in reports as Ms Roberts, alleges in papers filed in Florida that she was forced to have sex with Andrew when she was 17, which is under the age of consent in the state.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Andrew, in his first public engagement since he was embroiled in the allegations, responds, saying: ‘Firstly I think I must, and want, for the record, to refer to the events that have taken place in the last few weeks.

‘I just wish to reiterate, and to reaffirm, the statements that have already been made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace.’

In April the claims against Andrew are struck from US civil court records following a federal judge’s ruling.

– 2019

Newly released legal documents show that Johanna Sjoberg, another alleged Epstein victim, claimed Andrew touched her breast while sitting on a couch inside the US billionaire’s Manhattan apartment in 2001.

Buckingham Palace said the allegations are ‘categorically untrue’.

Epstein is found dead in his jail cell on August 10, having killed himself after being charged with sex trafficking.

Later that month a pilot on Epstein’s private jet claims Andrew was a passenger on past flights with the financier and Ms Roberts.

The Sun newspaper reported that David Rodgers said in a testimony released in August that Epstein, Andrew and the-then 17-year-old travelled to the US Virgin Islands on April 11 2001.

Buckingham Palace describes the evidence statement as having ‘a number of inconsistencies’ and said that Andrew was on a different continent in some cases.

Following Epstein’s death, a statement from the palace says that Andrew is ‘appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes’.

Breaking his silence on the issue for the first time since 2015, Andrew then releases a statement on August 24 saying: ‘At no stage during the limited time I spent with him (Epstein) did I see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to his arrest and conviction.’

On November 16, the prince gave a ‘disastrous’ BBC interview in which he spoke about his friendship with Epstein and addressed allegations of his own sexual conduct.

He faced a barrage of criticism following his television appearance, with the royal accused of a lack of empathy with Epstein’s victims.

During the interview, Andrew, questioned by Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis, twice stated his relationship with Epstein, who died in jail while facing sex trafficking charges, had some “seriously beneficial outcomes”, giving him the opportunity to meet people and prepare for a future role as a trade envoy.

The duke denied he slept with Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, on three separate occasions, twice while she was underage, saying one encounter in 2001 did not happen as he spent the day with his daughter Princess Beatrice, taking her to Pizza Express in Woking for a party.

The same alleged sexual liaison, which the American said began with the royal sweating heavily as they danced at London nightclub Tramp, was factually wrong as the duke said he had a medical condition at the time which meant he did not sweat.

He cast doubt on the authenticity of a picture that appears to show Andrew with his arm around the waist of Mrs Giuffre, when a teenager.

The prince has denied accusations that he had sex with Epstein victim Virginia Roberts on three occasions, twice while she was aged 17.

He suggested the world-famous picture of his arm around Ms Roberts’ waist could be faked as he denied ever meeting her.

Miss Roberts’ evidence that he sweated ‘profusely’ on the three occasions she claims they had sex were explained away by the duke claiming a rush of adrenaline while being shot at during the Falklands conflict in 1982 made it impossible for him to perspire.

However Lady Hervey said: ‘I watched it and thought, first of all, there’s no way if he is guilty that he would go onto TV and do an interview like that.

‘I think the public made their decision a long time ago, so him going on TV and he didn’t really give the public what they wanted, having any remorse, that’s’ why there’s been a backlash.

‘But I think he didn’t do it because there’s no way he would put himself in that situation.’

Lady Hervey’s fears of being discreetly filmed at one of Epstein’s properties tallies with the testimony of other alleged victims of the disgraced businessman.

Maria Farmer claimed the late pedophile kept surveillance camera footage of some of the rooms inside his Manhattan mansion and that he stored it in a safe.

She spoke out in an interview with CBS that aired on Monday and Tuesday and told how she worked for Epstein in the 1990s after meeting him at an art show.

She says Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell also sexually assaulted her in 1996, and that Maxwell subsequently threatened her life.

It is unclear if the surveillance footage Farmer described exists and if it forms part of any police investigation.

In July this year, the FBI raided Epstein’s home and authorities described finding passports, cash and diamonds, in a locked safe inside but there has never been any mention of surveillance footage of what went on in the property.

‘It was all videoed all the time. I asked him, “What do you do with all this?”

‘And he said “I keep it. I keep it all in my safe.”‘

Farmer also described seeing ‘many’ women being brought into the home, most of whom were young.

‘I saw many, many, many, many ,many, [young women] all day long.

‘I saw Ghislaine going to get the women. She went to places like Central Park.

‘I was with her sometimes and she would say “stop the car!”, she would dash out and get a child,’ Farmer alleged.

When she asked Ghislaine what the girls were for, she claims she said she was ‘getting Victoria Secret models.’

Farmer said Maxwell had ‘her own floor’ in the Upper East Side mansion, where many women have described giving Epstein massages in their underwear and being sexually assaulted by him afterwards.

The Duke of York faced a barrage of criticism following his television interview about the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal on Saturday night, with the royal accused of a lack of empathy with the victims.

Andrew’s attempt to set the record straight about his relationship with the convicted sex offender – and counter allegations he slept with one of Epstein’s groomed teenagers – was widely condemned for its unsympathetic tone and lack of remorse for the friendship.

Green Party co-leader Sian Berry said the duke’s interview for a special Saturday edition of BBC’s Newsnight programme was not ‘very empathetic’ with the teenage girls preyed on by the disgraced financier.

Commentators questioned Andrew’s decision to speak in depth for the first time about the allegations and his 10-year friendship with Epstein, with one calling it an ‘appalling lack of judgment’ and another saying his responses lacked conviction.

A legal expert said being a member of the monarchy did not give the duke a get out clause from being prosecuted in the US, and he was ‘unwise’ to have given a detailed account of his actions to the media.

During the interview, Andrew, questioned by Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis, twice stated his relationship with Epstein, who died in jail while facing sex trafficking charges, had some ‘seriously beneficial outcomes’, giving him the opportunity to meet people and prepare for a future role as a trade envoy.

The royal said: ‘… from the investigations that we’ve done, you can’t prove whether or not that photograph is faked or not because it is a photograph of a photograph of a photograph. So it’s very difficult to be able to prove it but I don’t remember that photograph ever being taken.’

The duke said the whole episode had not been damaging to the Queen, only to himself, and that the wider royal family ‘couldn’t be more supportive’.

He expressed regret at making contact with Epstein in 2010 – flying to New York to say in person the friendship was over – after the 66-year-old had been released from an 18-month prison term for prostituting minors.

But Maitlis highlighted how he spent a number of days with him at his home, and how he was guest of honour at a dinner party she said celebrated Epstein’s release.

Prince Andrew’s ‘missing hours’ in US: ‘Gaps emerge’ in itinerary for 2001 charity trip after Duke claimed that full diary meant that he could not have had sex with Virginia Roberts

Prince Andrew had ‘gaps’ in his diary and was allegedly unaccompanied for several hours in New York at a time when Virginia Roberts claimed they had sex, a former aide has claimed today.

The Duke of York denied the alleged liaison with Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘slave’ was possible because of his full itinerary while in the city as patron of the Outward Bound Trust in April 2001.

In his excruciating interview with the BBC‘s Emily Maitlis he appeared to squirm when asked about it but firmly replied: ‘I don’t think that could have happened at all’.

But today a former aide on the US trip to the Big Apple and then Boston told the Telegraph there were gaps in his itinerary but was unsure if the duke met with Epstein.

Revealed: Andrew’s movements on 2001 trip to New York where Epstein’s slave claims they had sex

April 9, 2001: Duke of York jets into New York from London landing around lunchtime and has no engagements that afternoon. Aide sat he was unaccompanied.

On the same day Jeffrey Epstein’s jet carrying his ‘slave’ Virginia Roberts lands at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, half an hour from Manhattan.

The plane later flies on to Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean but it is not known when. Royal aide has ‘no idea’ of Andrew met Epstein.

April 10: Andrew has a full day of engagements with the Outward Bound Trust [OBT] before flying up to Boston in the evening.

April 11: Duke jets back to New York and his staff all go back to London but he stays in the US.

April 19: Duke starts tour of South Korea. It is not known if he flew there from America or from the UK.

The Court Circular – the royal family’s official public diary – shows that he jetted into New York from London on the morning of April 9 2001, landing at around midday and had a free afternoon.

On the same day Roberts flew into a private airport near New York on Epstein’s ‘Lolita Express’ private jet, which later flew to his US Virgin Islands hideaway, now nicknamed ‘paedo island’ because of the crimes committed there.

Andrew had nothing pencilled in for his first day in New York and the aide who briefed the Telegraph last night was asked if the duke went to meet Epstein and said: ‘I’ve no idea’.

Andrew had a full diary of Outward Bound events in NYC on April 10 before he flew up to Boston that evening so prepare for events the following morning to meet school children.

That afternoon, on April 11, he flew back to New York where aides then transferred on to a flight back to the UK but the duke stayed in the US.

It is not known what he did for the eight days before he appeared in South Korea for an official engagement, including whether he flew to Seoul from the UK, the US or elsewhere.

Andrew was asked about whether he slept with Virginia on the New York trip and told Emily Maitlis on Saturday: ‘I think that the date we have for that [the New York encounter] shows that I was in Boston or I was in New York the previous day and I was at a dinner for The Outward Bound Trust in New York and then I flew up to Boston the following day and then on the day that she says that this occurred, they’d already left to go to the island before I got back from Boston. So I don’t think that could have happened at all.’

The Telegraph source said the Outward Bound trip had taken place ‘a long time ago’ and it was impossible to pinpoint his movements in New York, when he is accused of having sex with Virginia, then aged 17.

But the insider defended the duke and said they believe he wouldn’t have slept with Roberts.

‘The Duke is absolutely not capable of this Epstein is clearly horrible but I’m confident (of the Duke’s innocence). It’s inconceivable,’ the source said.

MailOnline has asked Buckingham Palace to comment on the Telegraph’s claims.

A spokesman said: ‘The Duke’s words in his interview speak for themselves’, adding: ‘It is emphatically denied that The Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts. Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation.’

English National Ballet are reviewing Prince Andrew’s role as patron as university becomes 10th sponsor to cut ties with the Duke

English National Ballet bosses have allegedly been secretly lobbying to give Prince Andrew the push as their patron as MailOnline can today reveal that ten of his charity’s lucrative sponsors have now turned their backs on the royal.

The Duke of York’s disastrous BBC interview and toxic friendship with Jeffrey Epstein has caused ‘real concern’ on the board of trustees and among staff that his official role could undermine their work with youngsters, it has been claimed.

A source told The Times: ‘Everyone is hoping that it can be resolved without requiring collective discussion. But at some point it will require that discussion if he does not stand down. The trouble is he has a thick skin and I am sure he would be reluctant to’.

English National Ballet refused to comment on the plot but a spokesman told MailOnline: ‘The matter of English National Ballet’s patronage is being discussed by its trustees. We have no further comment at this time’.

Andrew is the patron of 189 charities and organisations including 28 golf clubs and societies – and many have yet to say if they will stand by him in the wake of his friendship with child abuser Jeffrey Epstein.

MailOnline can also today reveal that ten of the 35 worldwide sponsors of Andrew’s beloved Pitch@Palace charity have pulled the plug on their support and funding.

Five big businesses: Advertising Week Europe, KPMG, Aon, Standard Chartered and Gravity Road say they will no longer be involved. Five universities and education groups in Australia, Canada and the UK are also cancelling.

The Telegraph has claimed that other supporters have asked for reassurance that the Duke of York will quit completely to save the charity for young entrepreneurs from collapse.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the meeting and said this ‘would be a matter for the respective organisations.
