Nigel Havers says he would love to return to Coronation Street

Coronation Street star Nigel Havers has said he would ‘always’ love to return to the soap as conman Lewis Archer.

Speaking on Wednesday’s Loose Women the actor, 68, said he ‘absolutely loved’ playing the villainous character, before he dramatically died of a heart attack on New Year’s Day.

While it seems unlikely that Nigel could ever return to the soap, the panel went onto say that there are still conspiracy theories that his character is alive.

During the interview, Nigel reflected on his time playing Lewis, alongside his ongoing romance with Audrey Roberts.

Despite his wicked ways, many soap fans grew to love their relationship, and fans were stunned when he dropped dead of a heart attack with an engagement ring for Audrey in his hands.

When asked whether he could ever be resurrected, Nigel said: ‘I’d always go back. I absolutely loved doing it.

‘The people are so nice and the story lines are so great. I call myself a letterbox actor which means anything that comes through the letterbox, I do.’

He continued: ‘I played a charmer years ago and this was an updated version. In the end I turned out to be really nice. I had the engagement ring in my pocket.’

The panel went onto reveal that there are conspiracy theories rife that Lewis is still alive, and Nigel refused to confirm or deny the possibility that we could see him in Weatherfield again in the future.

He added: ‘You just don’t know. Or he has a twin brother somewhere. Or maybe I’m in Barbados waiting to come back.’

The ’70s are back with a bang this season, but it’s less Austin Powers and more Jackie Kennedy meets Princess Margaret with tailored co-ordinates and bold paisley prints.

Showing us how to rock the trend with a 21st-century twist, however, was Janet Street-Porter, who donned this printed shirt by & Other Stories with Asos jeans for the latest Loose Women show.

The hot pink pussy-bow blouse is decorated with an all-over print in contrasting blues, purples and yellows. So that’s two trends ticked in one with this piece then!

We love how the show’s stylists Gemma Shanley and Bertie Bowen have opted for laid-back aesthetic, but style this top with a mini faux leather skirt and ankle boots to really channel a retro vibe.

We’re longing to add this shirt to our wardrobes and if you are too then hurry and click (right) to shop your size. Alternatively, brighten up your look with a shirt from the carousel which includes People tree, River Island and Next.

‘I have been a snogger in my time. She’s not and didn’t like me snogging Audrey. But I’ve introduced them now so she’s fine,’ he added.
