Gary Lineker has revealed that he still speaks to ex wife Danielle Bux three times a day.
The Match of the Day presenter, 58, split from Danielle, 40, in 2016 but he insists they are still ‘best mates’.
Admitting his bond with his second wife is’unusual’, he told The Mirror: ‘Danielle and I are best mates, we still speak three times a day, we text all the time.’
Still pals: Gary Lineker has revealed that he still speaks to ex wife Danielle Bux three times a day. The couple married in 2009 and split in 2016 (pictured together in 2009)
He added: ‘When she comes to London she stays with me, and when I go to LA I see her.’
Gary was first married Michelle Cockayne in 1986, with whom he has four sons – George, 27, Harry, 25, Tobias, 23 and Angus, 22.
They split after a 20-year marriage and three years later, in 2009, Gary married former lingerie model Danielle, who is 19 years his junior.

The Match Of The Day presenter claimed Danielle wanted children, despite agreeing with him not to, and their marriage ended in 2016.
Danielle has a teenage daughter from an earlier relationship but was said to be ‘desperate’ to have more children.
Gary claimed she did not wt to pressure him into having a baby as he was getting older.
Speaking to the Times Magazine, the former England football captain said: ‘Obviously I would have done, but she said, “It’s not fair on you”. Then I said, “Well, I’d feel terrible if I stop you doing it”.’
But Gary, who lives alone, revealed in the interview that he remains in close contact with Danielle – who now lives in Los Angeles and has a young daughter with her partner Nate Greenwald.
He said that although she lives in the US and has a new boyfriend, the pair chat regularly, echoing what he told The Mirror.

Gary, who grew up in Leicester, has been out to visit Danielle and has even met Nate – and given his seal of approval.
But while Danielle has moved on, Gary insisted that he is still enjoying single life and going out with friends.
At the time of her pregnancy announcement in March 2017, Gary had been one of the first to congratulate Danielle, with sources claiming he was ‘thrilled’ for his former flame and Nate.
Gary also talked social media with The Mirror, and said he never thought he would become a political voice.
‘If you’d said to me 10 years ago I’d be some kind of semi-political voice, I would have said not a chance,’ he said.
He also mentioned the trolling on Twitter that he this month pledged not to publicise the social media abuse he receives – in an effort to stamp it out, and said: ‘You can get embroiled in all sorts of nastiness, but I love it more than I loathe it.’
The presenter has topped the BBC list of its highest earners for a second year, pocketing around £1.75million. BBC director general Lord Tony Hall claimed Lineker provided value for money.
