Council gives Katie Price three months to demolish her horse exercise area

Katie Price has been given three months to demolish a horse exercise arena built without permission at her £1.5million country home.

The reality star landed in hot water with planners at the local council after starting work on renovations including a new gym and beauty salon at her West Sussex mansion.

It has seen the sprawling estate turned into a giant building site with enormous mounds of soil piled on the driveway and scaffolding surrounding the walls.

Officials slapped her with a temporary stop notice last month over the ‘alleged unauthorised development including importation of waste material, excavation of land and level changes and creation of sand school’.

Katie, 41, has now been served with an enforcement notice ordering her to return the land to its original condition.

A council officer said: ‘It appears to the council that the above breach of planning control has occurred within the last four years.

‘The laying of waste material by virtue of its extent and surfacing has an adverse impact upon the character and appearance of the rural area.

‘The council does not consider that planning permission should be given because it is not justified in a countryside location and planning conditions could not overcome these objections to the development.’

It comes after Katie faced the possibility of a £20,000 fine in July this year when she failed to request planning permission from the council. Pictured, her West Sussex house had mounds of sand in the front garden as diggers rolled in

Katie has been given a month (October 7) to appeal against the enforcement notice or comply with it by the New Year (January 7).

As part of plans for a celebrity come-back later this year, the former glamour model started work on a beauty salon, gym and horse exercise arena.

Photos of the decaying house show enormous mounds of soil piled on the driveway, scaffolding surrounding the exterior walls and diggers setting to work.

A huge area in her Sussex garden was dug up, presumably for the horse exercise arena as she transforms the decrepit home.

Renovation work is yet to reach the tennis court, which has become overgrown and barely recognisable. The mother of five’s swimming pool has seen better days, with a brown sheet covering the stagnant water.

But despite diggers rolling in, a source from Horsham Council told the Sun at the time: ‘There are no planning applications for that property right now. If she hasn’t put in an application before she starts building, she’ll be in trouble.’

Six months later, in June 2019 it emerged Katie’s business empire had suffered a fresh blow after one of her firms was struck off by government officials.

Over the past 18 months there have been reports that the ex-model, a keen horse rider, had been trying to sell off her pink horsebox and a number of her animals.

Her £2million mansion, a former home of politician Francis Maude, boasts nine bedrooms, a two bedroom annexe, 12 acres of land, a pool, tennis court and stables.

She bought it for £1.35million in October 2014, but it has since fallen into a state of disrepair, with the grounds strewn with rubbish and the pool full of dirty water.
