Daniel Craig emerges with his foot in a cast and walks with the aid of two crutches

The full extent of Daniel Craig’s 007 related injury was evident as he emerged with a plastic walking cast covering his right foot on Sunday afternoon.

The British actor appeared to walk with some discomfort as he made his way across New York’s JFK airport with the air of two crutches, just days after having ankle surgery on an injury sustained while filming his fifth and final film as James Bond.

Craig, 51, was taking some time away from a chaotic shooting schedule that has been mired by accidents, acrimony, rumours of a still unfinished script and, more recently, an explosion at Pinewood Studios – the franchise’s spiritual home.

The long awaited film, which will be released in 2020, had already suffered a series of setbacks long before filming commenced, with director Danny Boyle initially signing up before leaving the project over disagreements regarding the direction of his script.
