The current Bishop of a Rhode Island city is under fire after sharing a tweet telling his congregation not to support or attend LGBTQ Pride Month events.

Providence Bishop Thomas Tobin took to his Twitter to share his incendiary thoughts in a Saturday tweet that was liked just more than 1,100 times but has been inundated with several thousand incinerating comments.

‘A reminder that Catholics should not support or attend LGBTQ ‘Pride Month’ events held in June,’ he said in the tweet. ‘They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals. They are especially harmful for children.’

Tobin proudly touts that he is a Pittsburgh native. He served as the auxiliary bishop of Pittsburgh from 1992 to 1996, which many users pointed out was during years in which the Catholic Church worked to cover up sexual assault allegations against Pennsylvania priests.

He even reportedly stated that he ‘became aware of incidents of sexual abuse when they were reported to the diocese,’ asserting that his responsibilities ‘did not include clergy assignments or clergy misconduct.’

#MeToo founder and activist, Tarana Burke, summed up the sentiment when she tweeted: ‘Can we talk about pots & kettles?#blaaaaack #foh #glasshouses.’

‘I think you meant to say that Catholic priests have promoted a culture and encouraged activities that are contrary to Catholic faith and morals,’ added LGBTQ activist Brian Sims. ‘One that is especially harmful to minors. Fixed that for you. #BeReal’

He continued: ‘There’s not one ounce of authenticity of integrity here. Attacking families, attacking people fighting for their rights, attacking people celebrating their community, all the while molesting thousands of kids with self-righteous impunity.’

Pollster Matthew McDermott quickly pointed out Tobin’s controversial history in Pittsburgh as the auxiliary bishop. McDermott also noted the trends in Rhode Island since the bishop came.

‘Association with the Catholic Church in Rhode Island has fallen nearly 20% since Tobin became Bishop,’ said the pollster. ‘It’s evident why.’

Jason Bailey said: ‘Oh DO GO ON about things that are harmful to children, oh BISHOP OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.’

Eric Spankle, a professor of clinical psychology, told Catholics not to attend Catholic mass.

He added: ‘They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to humanism. They are especially harmful for children.’

‘A reminder. Why you let priests that molest children get away with it? Worry about that and leave the LGBTQ community the entire F**K alone. Thanks,’ asserted Kellee Terrell.

Greg Bennett stated: ‘I’m gonna have gay sex on your grave when you die in a few years 🙂 :)’

The sentiment was shared by Travis Helwig, who said: ‘Eat my a**hole father.’
