Woman reveals clever hack for cleaning oven shelves using ONLY tumble dryer sheets and hot water

A woman on a cleaning Facebook group has shared a clever trick which shows how to clean oven shelves with tumble dryer sheets.

Michelle Tamplin, from the UK,  shared the post in a cleaning group called Hinch Army Cleaning tips and people loved the hack.

The cleaning fan said that she had heard of the hack so thought she would give it a go – much to the amusement of her husband when she started piling the shelves in the bath.

She revealed the hack involves filling your bath with hot water and adding in tumble dryer sheets. Then after they have soaked you use the sheets to clean off the last bit of dirt.

Cleaning fans on the group loved her hack while others have been sharing the hack on another Facebook group called Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It.

In the Facebook Hinch Army Cleaning Tips group, Michelle wrote: ‘I thought I would try this last night after a few glasses of wine. My husband was wondering why I was emptying our oven and taking them to the bath. Thought I had gone mad.

‘I then proceeded to throw a couple of tumble dryer sheets in with some warm water. Off to bed I go……. ‘

However she had a word of warning to the other groups members, revealing she said she probably should have informed the rest of the family about it.

‘A few hours later our eldest comes home from a night out and proceeds to have a shower. Yeah you can see what’s coming. He steps in the shower then proceeds to shout at the top of his voice there’s something in the shower.’

‘By now I am awake but slightly pi**ed so lie there laughing and really not helping at all. Out the shower he gets and off to bed he goes with a bruised toe as he had stubbed it on the racks.

‘Well this morning I have been called all sorts of names but no sh*ts given as I have nice clean wire racks after giving them a little scrub to get the last bits off.’

Many loved her story but also her hack, with one avid cleaner writing: ‘Thanks so much for this! It works a treat! Super Shiny oven racks now.’

While another was inspired by the post and said: ‘I’m trying this great tip.’

The hack is so effective as the fabric softening ingredients in the dryer sheets help to soften any old dry food on the shelves.

A member of another group shared how well the hack also worked for them and she also added washing up liquid.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It group she said: ‘OMG!!! Had to share. Tried out a proper bonafide hack today. Best hack I have come across.

‘My oven was in desperate need of a clean, and I HATE cleaning the racks & using smelly chemicals that are strong enough to get them gleaming clean.

Another woman shared the hack on a cleaning group and she said she got the fabric tumble dryer sheets for a £1 from Asda

‘So I tried my recently discovered hack, and to be honest wasn’t expecting it to work even a little bit.

‘I dutifully put my racks in the sink with a splash of washing up liquid, a tumble dryer sheet and added boiling water. Left it to soak for one hour, and the used the dryer sheet to wipe all the gunk away, leaving it all shiny and clean. Knock me down with a feather duster!’

Others thanked her for the hack and shared theirs, with one saying: ‘I wrapped the racks in foil filled the bath to about five inches and used two dishwasher tablets left overnight and just wiped in morning they where as clean as a whistle.’

While another said: ‘Don’t let the water go cold as the grease will stick back to it. the fairy will shift it with a bit of a scrub.’
