‘I don’t blame her at all for my addiction, but it was screwed up… not a normal mother-child relationship.
‘Back then, I was just a kid and, if I’m honest, I thought she was cool because my granny, Pippy [who brought Davina up from the age of three], and my dad never let me do any of that in England.’
Davina went on to explain her disappointment after her mother chose to sell stories on the presenter while she was in recovery for drug addiction.

Attributing her strength as the way she was able to get through the tough time, she went on to admit that what Florence did ‘was very dangerous.’

Davina has previously confessed her mother Florence lost out on a relationship with her after she sold a story about her drug addiction.
Recalling the incident, she revealed how a visit to narcotics anonymous before her wedding to Matthew Robertson could have made it seem as though she was about to relapse.

It wasn’t the first time she had sold a story about her daughter, Davina explained, but it was the final straw.
‘I told her about it [selling stories],’ the Lessons I’ve Learned author said. ‘She didn’t think it was a big deal – and then she did it again.’
Family: Despite her difficult relationship with her mother, Davina is close with her step mother Gaby and her father Andrew
She added: ‘I built a bridge with my mum for the wedding, but then my husband [Matthew Robertson] said that has to be it.’
Careful to explain she wasn’t ‘mum bashing’, she explained her thoughts on Florence, saying: ‘My mum was an amazing mum, but she didn’t know how to behave on a human level.’
