Britney Spears’ ex-manager Sam Lutfi denies writing ‘fake emails’

Britney Spears’ former manager Sam Lutfi has hit back at the singer’s recent claims surrounding his involvement in a fake email controversy.

The film producer, 44, took to Twitter on Wednesday to deny crafting emails in the entertainer’s name, hours after she shared an update on her mental health on Instagram.

Los Angeles native Sam also suggested the Grammy-winning singer, 37, was forced to make the video statement by her management as he retweeted a comment about Britney being ‘controlled against her free will’.

Sam addressed the topic to his 41,000 Twitter followers as he penned: ‘Britney’s Instagram post has accused me of fabricating e-emails of hers that have been circulating recently.

‘I can unequivocally state that I never wrote nor had access to her email. Her team’s desperate attempt to deflect negative attention onto me (yet again) is a rather ineffective way to overshadow the FreeBritney movement.

‘In addition to making certain people in her camp look bad, the e-mails in question show a woman capable of running her own life, a narrative they apparently want to hide’, he added. Sam captioned the post: ‘Nice try Lou but this isn’t going to work this time around.’

Britney’s former friend went on to retweet a series of posts in support of #FreeBritney – a hashtag which implies the singer is being controlled against her free will.

The first tweet read: ‘Britney clearly didn’t write that caption and that generic video message? Nah huns. Since when has @britneyspears ever named and shamed anyone or even threw shade at @SamLutfi? It’s a diversion! #FreeBritney.’

A second social media user echoed: ‘But…what if Britney does make a statement but it’s just her team? And if she mentions it on video or in an interview, how will we know she wasn’t manipulated into saying it..’.

MailOnline has contacted Britney’s representatives for further comment.

Sam’s tweets come after Britney insisted that ‘all is well’ and that she’ll be back in the limelight soon, while also blaming the recent controversy on her ex-manager Sam.

The Mississippi native took to Instagram on Tuesday with a brief video clip in which she gave fans an update on her personal life, alongside a lengthy caption in which she gave further context to her situation.

Britney revealed in the clip: My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But don’t worry I’ll be back very soon.’

The Make Me… singer added a detailed caption to the video clip in an effort to clear up any misconceptions the public might have, as she sought help at a mental health facility earlier this month.

‘I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!!’ Spears said. ‘There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said.

‘I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me.’

The mom-of-two sons – Sean, 13, and Jayden, 12 – urged her fans not to ‘believe everything you read and hear,’ adding that Lutfi was behind emails that were attributed to her.

‘These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them,’ Spears said.

‘He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address. My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment.’

The pop star said in her clip, ‘You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want! Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way.

‘If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you,’ she concluded in the heartfelt message to her 21.7million Instagram followers.

It’s been a difficult time for the songstress amid her father Jamie’s health battle, as he’s undergone multiple medical procedures after suffering a ruptured colon.

Earlier this month, according to TMZ, she checked into the facility amid the difficult stretch.

‘Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her … he’s not doing well,’ a family insider told People earlier this month.

‘They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her – she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.’

Meanwhile, Britney’s boyfriend, model Sam Asghari, 25, told TMZ Tuesday that there is ‘nothing to worry about’ in regards to the singer’s welfare, amid the #FreeBritney campaign.

‘She’s doing amazing,’ said Asghari, who was snapped with the songstress during an Easter Sunday outing to the Beverly Hills-based Montage hotel.

‘Her fans are so amazing to be so concerned, but she’s doing great. Nobody needs to worry. She’ll be back soon,’ he continued.

Sam, who has been dating Britney for three years, was pictured with the pop star on Sunday in Beverly Hills.

The Stronger singer received a day pass from the facility, and spent Easter day with her family, according to TMZ.

The hit-maker has nearly completed her 30-day stint at a mental health facility.
