Couple and their friend are killed after their boat crashed off the Florida coast

Three people were killed in Florida after their boat crashed over the holiday weekend. 

Couple, Christopher Colgan, 56, and Elisaine Colgan, 38, who had been married for 17 years, were pulled from Miami Beach shortly after the 32-foot-long boat struck a jetty near Government Cut.

The body of Fort Lauderdale resident Jennifer Y Munoz Cadavid, 28, was found Monday morning, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife spokesman Ronald Washington.

Fourth victim, Troy Forte, 37, survived but he was rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition. 

Forte was in stable condition as of Sunday. 

According to The Miami Herald, the crash occurred around 9.18pm Saturday night. 

Photos from the crash show the capsized boat wedged against sharp rocks along the beach.        

Elisaine Colgan was a licensed real estate broker. She would have turned 39 years old on Sunday. 

Her husband, Christopher, was an avid boater and fisherman.

The couple have a teenage son together. He was not on the boat at the time. 

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez told the Herald on Monday that it’s ‘really hard to see’ at night in the area where the crash occurred. 

‘We need to do something about that to really light it up that says, “Hey, the jetty is here”.’

It’s unclear what caused the crash. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
