2019 ACM Awards: Stars arrive on the red carpet

The Academy of Country Music Awards were the first major country music award ceremony, and they’re set to reward the best in the genre on Sunday.

The all-star country event will feature major performances from Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Khalid, Maren Morris, Christ Stapleton, Little Big Town, and Jason Aldean.

Kicking off the glamorous red carpet were country sweethearts Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves.

Carrie opted for a leggy display in a dark off-the-shoulder dress with glimmering sequins.

The American Idol winner’s dress featured a swath of fabric running down between her legs.

She elevated her stature with some jeweled open-toe heels.

She was joined by her husband Mike Fisher, who complemented her gleaming outfit with a classic all-black suit.

The outfit featured a dramatically long train which she swept to her side like a cape.

She was accompanied by her husband, country singer Ryan Hurd, in a black pinstripe suit sans shirt.

Kacey Musgraves has the second highest number of nominations, with five.

She opted for a risqué gradient suit featuring splashes of sky blue, pink and green.

The shirt-free blazer showed off a hint of her cleavage, and her trademark raven hair lay wavy over her lapels.

Musgraves previously won Album of the Year at both the Grammy Awards (where she swept all four categories she was nominated in) and the CMA Awards, so she’s a favorite to win the category at the ACMs.

She’s nominated twice in the category, both as the artist and the producer of her fourth studio album, Golden Hours.

The 2019 show marks her 16th time leading the popular country music awards. She took a hiatus from hosting from 2013-2017.

She’s a 16-time winner herself, and most recently won a public service honor in 2017.

The 54th ACM Awards will feature collaborations between pop star Khalid and Kane Brown, three-time Grammy-winner Brandi Carlile with Dierks Bentley and pop star Kelly Clarkson pulling double-duty with performances with both Jason Aldean and Dan + Shay.

The awards show airing on CBS is also bringing back its flashback performance slots, this time with upcoming Country Music Hall of Famers Brooks & Dunn and new male artist winner Luke Combs, who sing together on Brooks & Dunn’s upcoming duets album ‘Reboot.’

Khalid opted for an unmissable yellow turtleneck for his big crossover performance, paired with a black jacket and pants.

Though he’s best known for his pop skills with The Backstreet Boys, AJ McLean has recently started releasing countrified music, with plans to release an entire album in the genre.

Fitting, he brought along a large hat to the ACMs, paired with a black suit and black shirt.

He added some striking, laceless leopard print shoes for an extra bit of flair.
