YouTube Jeffree Star was robbed more than $2.5million worth of make product from his beauty brand’s warehouse — including makeup he had yet to reveal to his fans.
Jeffree, 33, has built his cosmetic empire with the help of his 14 million YouTube followers. But he experienced the downside to his success after a team of people robbed his warehouse two weeks ago.
‘This is the biggest theft I have ever experienced in my entire career,’ Jeffree said in a candid video posted on Tuesday about the robbery. ‘This is the biggest hit as a brand.’
Heartbroken: Jeffree Star, 33, revealed to his 14 million YouTube followers on Tuesday that one of his warehouses was robbed two weeks ago
Upset: The robbers stole $2.5 million worth of product, including a shade from Jeffree’s new concealer line entitled Magic Star concealer
Frustrated: During the robbery, the people reportedly broke through the warehouse roof and then used trucks to take millions of dollars worth of product
More than $2.5 million worth of product was stolen from Jeffree — including lip liners, highlighter palettes and an entire shade from his new Magic Star concealer line.
Terrible: Jeffree decided to tell fans about the robbery two weeks after the fact because the stolen good started to appear online
‘I am still shocked by the entire thing,’ Jeffree admitted to his followers.
The burglary happened on March 15, the same day the YouTuber released his new Blue Blood collection to the public, with Jeffree explaining that one of his warehouses was broken into and robbed at around 1 a.m. on the day.
‘These people were professional,’ Jeffree said about the burglary. ‘I fully believe it was an inside job. I think that it was someone who temporarily worked there who tipped them off.’
The people reportedly broke into the warehouse through the ceiling and then used trucks to remove more than $2.5 million worth of product.
Pictures acquired by TMZ show the roof of the warehouse with a large hole in the middle where the people reportedly entered.
Another pictures also shows damage on the inside of the warehouse where the robbers trashed the place before leaving with the product.
This robbery happened on a Friday, but no one from Jeffree’s business knew about the stolen property until that following Monday. Jeffree kept the entire burglary hush hush for two weeks until he posted a cryptic tweet about it on Monday.
‘I never knew I’d be spending my Monday night with the FBI tracking down black market makeup sellers,’ Jeffree wrote in his tweet.
He then released his video on Tuesday to inform fans about the robbery.
On the hunt: ‘These people were professional,’ Jeffree said about the burglary. ‘I fully believe it was an inside job’
Stolen: Most of the product stolen in March was Jeffree’s new concealer in shade C5 from the warehouse
‘When you watch footage of this stuff it is so gut-wrenching watching people take your sh** and put it in a truck and steal something that I have been working on for so long,’ Jeffree said in the video.
‘They took an entire shade of f**king concealer,’ he continued. ‘Like I have 30 plus shades in this amazing line.’
Jeffree had never spoken about his new concealer line or revealed its packaging with his following. Instead, he was waiting to speak about the product at a different date — but the robbery forced his hand.
Cheated: Jeffree is currently working with the FBI and investigators to locate the stolen products and find the robbers
The makeup guru has since hired an entire team of investigators to attempt to track down those who robbed his warehouse and retrieve the stolen products.
Just this weekend, concealers started to appear online in Facebook Marketplace and other sites from the stolen collection.
‘So the people who broke into my facility, they are black market makeup dealers,’ Jeffree explained.
‘Whoever stole thousands and thousands shade C5 then, I think, they then go to black market people who sell makeup.’
One person is currently in jail for attempting to sell the stolen concealer on Facebook Marketplace, but he is not the person who originally stole the product.
‘We’ve tracked down some of the product but there are still so many units floating around there,’ Jeffree said.
The YouTuber will not experience any financial issues from the robbery, though, because ‘you know b**** has full-coverage insurance,’ he said. But the robbery did inform Jeffree about the need for better security at his warehouses.
‘It’s devastating that this is even real,’ he said. ‘It is not going to ruin my launch.’
Jeffree plans to release to concealer to the public later in April.
