Fleur East has revealed she is engaged to her long-term boyfriend Marcel Badiane-Robin.

‘And you can meet the man that I somehow convinced to want to spend the rest of his life with me! So happy to share this news.’
Fleur and Marcel have been dating for nine years, with her other half proposing in their hotel room.
She told Hello!: ‘I said yes immediately! How Marcel did everything was just wonderful.

‘We’re in a really traditional Japanese hotel and there were petals on the bed and champagne…Then I turned around and he was there, with the ring. He said: “Fleur East, will you be my wife?”
‘I couldn’t believe it. The ring is so beautiful and yellow is my favourite colour.’
Fleur added that she and her other half have spoken about marriage a lot over the years and she immediately started crying after Marcel proposed.
They first met in 2010 while they were both working in a nightclub but have mostly kept their relationship out of the spotlight.

Marcel is a fashion designer and has previously dressed the likes of Rita Ora and Jason Derulo.

They said: ‘They have been dating for a while now and it is definitely serious.
‘He is incredibly supportive of her X Factor success and wants her to go all the way, just as she is really supportive of his fashion career.’
Simon Cowell mentored Fleur, during the 2014 season of The X Factor, in which she placed second but gained considerable notoriety with a cover of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk, going on to release debut album, Love, Sax and Flashbacks.
She then appeared on the most recent season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, during which time Simon appeared to make a dig at people ‘going into the jungle’ during one of The X Factor’s recent live shows.
Speaking to MailOnline, Fleur merely chuckled when asked about this and said: ‘The music business is a harsh industry and so I have built up a bit of a wall [to remarks like that].
‘But knowing Simon – he’s not malicious and I think it was light-hearted.
‘I wouldn’t be in this position without The X Factor. I will be forever grateful to the show and to Simon. Without all that I wouldn’t have even been given the opportunity to go into jungle, so I thank him for that.’
