She stars as Gypsy Blanchard, daughter of Dee Dee Blanchard, played by Patricia Arquette.

In real life, she was forced by her mother to pretend to be chronically ill for years, requiring unnecessary surgeries and medications that helped make her sick enough to look the part.

Gypsy is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for participating in the murder of her mother with her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, who’s serving a life sentence.

Their crime, and the abusive that precipitated it, were depicted in the 2017 HBO documentary Mommy Dead And Dearest.
