Simon Cowell ‘loses half a stone after cutting out dairy, gluten and sugar’

Simon Cowell has ‘lost half a stone after doctors ordered him to ditch dairy, gluten and sugar – and his beloved sausage rolls’.

A source told the Daily Mirror the music mogul, 59, has had ‘a real spring in his step’ ever since undergoing a lifestyle overhaul after vowing to shape up 18 months ago.

The weight-loss comes after the X Factor boss vowed to improve his health following a nasty fall in 2017, insisting he wanted to spend more time with his son Eric, five.

The insider claimed that Simon first began the diet overhaul after he visited the doctors, where they explained that he was feeling tired due to an intolerance of certain foods.

They added: ‘As a result, he has cut out lots from his diet, and the impact has been almost immediate. He has loads of energy.’

However the source went on to claim that Simon found his new diet a challenge, particularly giving up calorific pastry treats, but has been stunned by how much his health has improved over such a short period.

‘He’s found it really tough to cut out a lot of things he used to love eating, like sausage rolls,’ they added.

Speaking about the fall last year he said on Lorraine, Simon explained it came due to his low blood pressure, adding: ‘I’m alright.

‘In a weird way it was a wake up call because it wasn’t the end of the world. It was a bit embarrassing…

‘I will never hear a bad word about the NHS. It’s like having an MOT, they do every possible test. I was probably overtired, to be honest.

‘I feel much better this year, I’m not having so many meetings or late night calls, it’s a bit more of a balance.’

Last year Simon also admitted that he had dramatically reduced his smoking habit – going from 80 cigarettes a day to just two – but also confessed that he could never quit completely.

Speaking to The Mirror he said: ‘If I tried to cut out cigarettes completely, I would have a real problem: too boring.’

‘It’s the same with drinking. I’m pretty good at cutting back when I need to.’

Fans will get a closer look at Simon’s trimmer physique when the Britain’s Got Talent auditions air, which is expected to be sometime next month.
