Meghan Markle is set to break royal protocol by hiring her own birthing partner to hold her hand as she welcomes her first child in April.
And it seems the mum-to-be’s week of royal engagements isn’t the only thing keeping her busy – as the doula has reportedly made several visits to Meghan at her home in Great Tew, Oxfordshire and at Kensington Palace already.
The Duchess of Sussex, who is though to be around six months pregnant, has reportedly hired a British doula to help coach and guide her as her due date in April fast approaches
The regular visits from the doula tops off a busy week for the Duchess of Sussex – who attended an engagement in her new role as Patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in London on Thursday, January 31 (above)
A royal insider reported that the specialist handholder is mother-of-three Lauren Mishcon (above), who if the rumours are true, will be at Meghan’s bedside along with a regular midwife on the big day
A doula is a non-medical professional who provides emotional support during and after a woman’s pregnancy.
Meghan’s specialist handholder of choice is alleged to be Lauren Mishcon who, if the rumours are true, will be at her bedside along with a regular midwife for the much- anticipated arrival in April.
Mother-of-three Lauren, 40, is married to Oliver Mishcon. His grandad headed the legal firm Mishcon de Reya, who were hired to look after Princess Diana’s split from Prince Charles in 1996.
And it’s been reported that Lauren has already set to work helping to coach Prince Harry on what to say to support his wife as she gives birth to their first child.
He ‘is doing everything he can to make sure Meghan’s comfortable and happy,’ the royal source said.
Sending the rumour mill into overdrive, many members of Doula UK have been teasing of the possible news on their private forum.

The other big topic in question is whether Meghan will welcome her newborn in the £6,000-a-night Lindo Wing at London’s St Mary’s Hospital, where Kate Middleton gave birth to her three children.
Apparently, staff at that hospital have been instructed not to take time off in April, the month Meghan is due.
In the meantime, it’s work as normal for the Duchess of Sussex, who braved the chilly weather to visit Bristol for a joint official engagement with Price Harry on Friday.
She wrote empowering messages of support on bananas as she joined her husband on a visit to a sex worker charity.
The royal couple were making up food parcels to be handed out to female sex workers when the mum-to-be was keen to add her own personal touch.
Pregnant Meghan, 37, was seen preparing personalised messages on fruit in the charity kitchen with volunteer Sue Creighton during a visit to One25, a charity which helps female sex workers in Bristol, on 1st February

The Duchess of Sussex braved the snowy weather today for a trip to Bristol, wrapping up against the elements in a chic black coat layered over a printed dress by Oscar de la Renta.
It’s not the first time Meghan has turned to the iconic label. She wore a trench coat by the brand recently, as well as a printed blue maxi dress to attend a wedding last summer. And of course, who could forget the show-stopping bird embroidered evening gown Meghan donned at the Australian Geographic Society Awards?
We love the quirky pattern on this particular dress, featuring floral and fauna motfis themed around an enchanted forest. Meghan then teamed the midi with a pair of knee-high boots by Sarah Flint for a chic finish.
