Gemma Collins has insisted she is not
Speaking to The
Determined: Gemma Collins has insisted she is not Dancing On Ice’s ‘fat joke’ as she promises to win over her critics and be crowned next year’s champion
‘When I first started, I couldn’t even cross my legs over. I was like, “Oh no, my legs are too big,” but now they cross over fine. I think people will be impressed with what I can do.’
Size 20 Gemma admitted she was also concerned as to whether her skating partner Matt Evers would be able to lift her, but the reality star was amused to find that he ‘could actually lift’ her.
But even if the GC – as she is dubbed by fans – takes a fall, she’d hardly be worried after revealing she’s insured for ‘a couple of million’.
Slimmer: The TOWIE star, 37, has already started to shed the pounds and dropped an entire dress size after training daily, with her partner Matt Evers, for the last three months
She explained: ‘I’m not worried about injuries. I’m insured, actually, for a couple of million, so if I do have an accident, it sort of does me a favour, if you know what I mean. But I don’t want to.’
Starting early next year, Gemma will compete alongside the likes of Strictly professional James Jordan, Brian McFadden and Coronation Street star Jane Danson.
And it seems Gemma has already made quite the impression on her co-stars, as former Westlife star Brian exclusively told MailOnline, the reality star has been kicked out of the show’s group chat on WhatsApp on two occasions, after being rude.
He said: ‘She gets removed when she’s rude, she can be a diva to the ITV people, when she’s a diva to us she gets blocked.’

Going for glory: Gemma is paired with dancing professional Matt and has claimed she is ‘in it to win it’ – setting her sights on the Dancing on Ice title
Brian’s revelation comes after Gemma vowed that she was on a mission to be crowned Dancing On Ice champion with partner Matt, as fans got a glimpse of her training in a recent preview for the new series.
She said: ‘I’m not here to take part I’m here to take over,’ before saying to Matt: ‘Opening night I want to to the splits I want to do a couple of spins I want to do fireworks.
‘Torvill and Dean you better take a step to the left, because I’m about to win the Bolero Cup.’
She told BANG Showbiz: ‘I’m doing really well, watch this space … Am I in it to win it? I’m ‘The GC’ baby, anything can happen, you never know…
You’re out! Westlife star Brian McFadden exclusively told MailOnline, the reality star has been kicked out of the show’s group chat on WhatsApp on two occasions, after being rude
‘I’m a star, a star was born when I came into the world. There’s only one ‘GC’ I always tell Arg I’m a star baby! Think Beyonce for the routines!’
And Gemma isn’t worried about falling and injuring herself on the ice because nothing can compare to the terrifying moment when she fell through a trapdoor at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards last year.
She said: ‘I’m not scared of falling guys, I’m alright if I fall a bit. Obviously, I’m not as fit as the others. You just sweat so much around the ice, but any fall compared to the Teen Awards is just not going to beat what happened there…
‘If I can fall down a trapdoor at the Teen Awards I’m not scared to fall on the ice.’
Dancing On Ice returns on Sunday 6th January at 6pm on ITV.
