Powerful 5.1-magnitude earthquake rocks Western Australia 

A powerful 5.1-magnitude earthquake has rocked Western Australia’s south-western tip.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the tremours at 5.07am local time 63km south-west of the town of Kojonup 10 kilometers below the surface.


There is no tsunami threat to Australia as a result of the quake, though, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Effects of the earthquake were felt across south-western parts of the state, including Perth, Mandurah, Bunbury, Margaret River and Albany.
