She’s standing in for
And Rochelle Humes, 29, who has presented the show before in a guest role, was praised by viewers of the show, for doing such a good job.
However, despite her positive reception, Rochelle did make one amusing gaffe when announcing Phil Vickery’s cooking segment.
Day one: Rochelle Humes has been praised by viewers during her first day as Holly Willoughby’s This Morning stand-in… but she did make a hilarious gaffe
Reading from the autocue, she said: ‘Later, Phil Vickery cooks up Roch… [I mean] Stew.’
Throughout the morning, fans of the former Saturdays singer took to social media, to reveal how well they thought she was doing.
They wrote things like: ‘It’s nice to see a new face, it’s about time there was a shake up of presenters. Apart from Ruthie and Eamon of course.’ [sic]
New experience: Holly is set to fly to Australia to cover for Ant McPartlin on this year’s show as he continues his recovery after entering rehab
Standing in: The new presenting star will join Dec for I’m A Celebrity Down Under
‘Yess shes great look forward to watching her over the next few weeks.'[sic]
‘@RochelleHumes doing a lovely job on her first day @thismorning.’
But not everyone was a fan and some people wrote that they missed Holly, with others saying there must have been actual presenters who are qualified for the job.
Exciting: Holly confirmed last week that Rochelle would be standing in for the five weeks she is in Australia, presenting alongside Phil
They love her: Viewers heaped praise on Rochelle during her first day of her current stand-in role
They wrote: ‘She has no real world/life experience – she was a child pop star and a charmed life ever since….not relatable…’
‘No no no Rochelle shouldn’t be doing this morning, more qualified nice kind people are available surely.’
40 minutes in and I’m already irritated by Rochelle (@RochelleHumes) who’s started every sentence with “yes…” and ended each segment with inane laughter. This isn’t her first rodeo so whyyyy is she suddenly so bad at this? #thismorning.’
Double trouble: Phill and Rochelle appeared to be getting along swimmingly
Smiles all round: Rochelle wore a green jumper and matching trousers on the day
Nobody’s perfect: Rochelle made one gaffe but seemed to be well praised by viewers
Rapport: She and Phillip had lots of onscreen chemistry
Not so sure: Yet others wondered if there was a more qualified presenter who could have taken on the role
Chatting to Holly, 37, and Phillip Schofield, 56, earlier this month Rochelle said: ‘I’ll take good care of you. I’m excited I can tell people now, there was rumours at the weekend and I didn’t reply to any of my friends.’
Rochelle also admitted that couldn’t wait to host the show alongside ‘the legend’ Phil for the first time, have been a host on several occasions with her husband Marvin.
During the show Holly also spoke about her first meeting with the I’m A Celebrity bosses ahead of jetting out to Australia in the coming weeks.
She told Phil: ‘It’s getting real now. I had a meeting yesterday with the whole I’m A Celeb team. We had a bit of a kind of read through of a fake show to get used to things. I did my first I’m A Celebrity…. Get Me Out Of Here! [yell], in a meeting room, without the echo.
‘I learned, which I didn’t realise, that only one of them says ‘I’m A Celebrity’, and then they both say, ‘Get Me Out Of Here’.. so you only join in half way through depending on who’s got the line before. I thought they both did it!’
Reports had circulated that Rochelle was top of the studio wish list to stand in for Holly on the show, but the news had not been confirmed.
‘Obviously, Holly’s are big shoes to fill, but Rochelle has been impressing bosses with her down-to-earth nature an d presenting skills for a while now.’
They added that Rochelle is ‘super excited’ about taking over from Holly and sees it as a ‘huge career opportunity’.
Holly had been drafted into replace Ant, who is currently taking a break from presenting and TV as he continues his recovery following an alcohol and painkiller addiction.
As they were: Ant and Dec presenting last year’s show along with the winner, Georgia Toffolo
