Back on the X Factor for a second time to prove she deserves a spot in the competition, Scarlett Lee sang her heart out to Aretha Franklin’s A Natural Woman.
The singer got a standing ovation from all four of the judges following her show-stopping performance.
Robbie complimented her: ‘Your voice is ridiculous. I’m sure you got the whole country on their feet. You smashed it!’
Ayda responded: ‘Loving the makeover. I know I speak for all the boys, you made us all feel like natural women. You are absolutely an inspiration. I love that you didn’t make it last year that you came back fighting.’
However, Scarlett cheekily hit back at her mentor Simon when he claimed she sang like a pub singer in a hilarious exchange.
Simon said: ‘I feel very lucky. I think you’ve got a slight problem with your pub singer-ish. You’ve got heart and you are a fighter and you are likable and I really love you as a person.’
Full of personality, Scarlett wagged her finger at Simon from the stage and the music mogul’s eyes were out on stalks. Scarlett cheekily quipped: ‘OMG Simon.’
The LMA Choir wowed the judges and audiences alike with big track Circle of Life as they battled it out against all the acts.
Simon said: ‘Robbie, this was a great song choice. We’ve never had a choir on this show before. I’ve waited for a moment before. This is your best performance of you so far.’
Ayda added: ‘It was a huge risk to put you through. Well done Robbie. This is the point where I would curse. That was bleeping incredible!’
Acacia and Aaliyah, who are only 14 and 15, put on a quirky performance when they sang Finesse by Bruno Mars and Cardi B.
Louis claimed: ‘I love you two as individuals. I was expecting a bit more street than you. In general I was waiting for a little bit more.’
Ayda agreed: ‘I totally agree I love you guys. I think you lost something. Too much stuff going on.’
Robbie teased Simon: ‘He is going through the man-a-pause. And unlike me, I think you can break America.’
Dalton Harris left everyone gobsmacked with his powerful performance of Life on Mars to close the show.
Robbie gushed: ‘I love you. How do you feel. Own it mate, you deserve it. You are a beautiful person with a beautiful voice.’
Ayda agreed: ‘Consider me another fan. I love that song. I was so instantly connected to you. That was one of the most memorable performances. The perfect way to close our show.’
Simon concluded: ‘You are going to remember that. We weren’t expecting. You’ve got a great vocal. This was special.’
Louis said: ‘I was so excited. I showed you off. I can comfortably say that was the best vocal of the night.’
