Kyle Sandilands’ show Trial By Kyle gets picked up for a full season

Most people would be ecstatic if their fledgling TV show got picked up for an entire season, but not Kyle Sandilands.

Speaking on KIIS FM on Monday, the 47-year-old confessed he was slightly annoyed his Channel Ten series Trial By Kyle had been picked up by the network.

The outspoken radio host even admitted he never expected the Judge Judy-inspired program to get a full run, thinking it would be ‘a one-off event’.

‘I was the only one that got picked up,’ he said, referring to Network’s Ten’s ‘Pilot Week’ of one-off specials that aired several months ago.

When his guest on Monday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, Rebecca Gibney, told him this was ‘good’ news, Kyle was less than enthusiastic.

‘Now I’ve actually got to do something!’ he complained.

After being branded as ‘lazy’ by his co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Kyle admitted he wasn’t even sure why he agreed to do the series in the first place.

‘I don’t know why I did it. I did it thinking, “Oh, I’ll do this. take the money and that’s the end of it.” And then they were like, “Good news, Kyle! Yours is the only show we’re picking up. It goes to air February next year,” and I was like, “Oh”,’ he explained.

Kyle then said he wasn’t sure how he was going to fit Trial By Kyle into his schedule.

‘It’s just that doing this job and then having to go in there and film all of that bulls**t… It’s tough,’ he added. ‘I like to lay around resting.’

It’s not the first time Kyle has spoken indifferently about his own TV show.

In an interview with News.com.au in August, Kyle said he wasn’t concerned if it got picked up for a full season or not.

‘I think everyone hopes it will go [ahead] but I also don’t give a f**k if it doesn’t,’ he said. ‘I’m not going to cry and be on Xanax or anything. I don’t care.’
