Thief steals running car while owner goes to buy fast food

An adorable Shih Tzu cross Maltese terrier has been caught in the ugly cross hair of a car jacking after his owner left him in a car with the engine running. 

Two-month-old Oreo was pinched while his owner dashed to pick up some fast food from a store on Holland Road in Burwood East, east of Melbourne, at 10pm Sunday.

The 23-year-old owner from Mount Waverley returned to find his 2009 Holden Cruze had disappeared, along with his puppy.

Victoria Police has issued a photo of young Oreo and called on the public’s assistance to help return him to his rightful owner. 

He has scruffy white fur on his face and body, a short stumpy nose and jet black colouring on his ears.

Anyone with information regarding the theft or the whereabouts of the vehicle, registration number 1NG2DC, or Oreo, has been urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
