An MMA fighter was arrested after allegedly punching, kicking and choking a fellow passenger at an airport in Atlanta.

Charles Haywood, 43, of Griffin, was taken into custody at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the Spirit Airlines ticket counter at the airport after a fight broke out between Haywood and Ivan Williams at around 7pm, WSB-TV reports.

‘It took a priest and two ladies to get him away from me,’ Williams told the station.

Williams told police that Haywood ‘struck him in the face several times in addition to kicking and choking him,’ police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

A number of witnesses told police that Haywood threw the first punch, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

In a clip of the altercation, he is heard asking Williams: ‘Who wants some?’

His wife reportedly told police that Haywood had been stressed about a big fight.

The fight began after Haywood was denied service at the ticket counter because he was on a ‘no-fly list,’ Daugherty said, according to the Journal-Constitution.

He reportedly became aggressive with other travelers after arguing with airline representatives and then singled out Williams.

Daugherty said officers struggled to detain Haywood, who threatened officers.

One of the officers responding to the scene sustained a minor hand injury, he said.

Haywood was arrested on charges of battery and obstruction.

He was released from Clayton County Jail on bond early on Wednesday.
