The banks have been robbing the customer since year dot. Wringing hand brigade members like Chubb Chubb need to gain a clear perspective instead of seeing one side of an argument and choosing that one. I for one would never say that the banks shouldn’t be allowed to charge us for going overdrawn, but I WOULD say not to the tune of £30 a time. Punishments are not meant to be (and I quote) punitive. HBOS members laid off, homeowners struggling to live and a £30 charge for the heinous crime of going 12 pence overdrawn. The charges wouldn’t be so bad if they went towards maybe keeping some HBOS employees in a job, not to pay for the best food, wine and accomodation Edinburgh has to offer. Whatever the HBOS sycophants like Chubb Chubb may say, it is totally, totally immoral.
