BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) – Romanians who stay overseas have begun an anti-government protest in Bucharest, urging the left-wing authorities to resign and name an early election.
The expatriates, a few of whom drove throughout Europe to attend the demonstration Friday, are indignant about how Romania is ruled. A few of the estimated three million Romanians dwelling overseas say they left due to corruption, low wages and lack of alternatives.
Tons of of protesters waved Romanian and European Union flags, yelling “Justice, not corruption!” exterior authorities places of work within the capital. The protest is predicted to swell Friday night.
Because the Social Democrats gained energy in 2016, Romanians have frequently protested authorities strikes to place in new legal guidelines that critics say weaken the nation’s battle towards corruption.
