Lila Moss celebrated her 16th birthday less than a week ago, but the rising model has already landed her first big beauty campaign.
The teen, who is the daughter of supermodel Kate Moss and magazine editor Jefferson Hack, has been named the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty, and the first photo from the campaign proves that she is a natural in front of the camera.
The brand revealed the news on Instagram Thursday by sharing an image of Lila modeling a bold purple cat-eye and a glossy nude lip created by makeup artist Diane Kendal.
A star is born: Kate Moss’ daughter Lila, 16, has been named the new face of Marc Jabobs Beauty. The brand shared this image on Instagram Thursday to announce the news
Throwback: Makeup artist Diane Kendal shared a behind-the-scenes shot of herself giving then 15-year-old Lila a bold cat-eye for the shoot, which took place in New York City in July
The purple shadow makes Lila’s bright green eyes pop in the picture, which was taken by famed fashion photographer Davis Sims.
The young model is posed with her hand resting on her chin, pushing her lip up, and her blonde locks, which were styled by Guido Palau, are mostly hidden under a black hat.
Kate, 44, has been friends with Jacobs for years, and in the caption of the post, Jacobs reflected on his relationship with both Lila and her mother.
‘When I met Lila Grace for the first time in 2008, I was on a holiday in Ibiza and went to Formentera for the day to visit with her mom, Kate Moss, and other friends and family,’ he wrote.
‘At just six years old, Lila’s strong character, demeanor and great beauty was already very apparent.’
Jacobs said the next time he saw Lila was in August 2011 at Kate’s wedding to her now ex-husband Jamie Hince. According to the designer, Lila’s ‘character was more dynamic and her beauty even greater.’
Kate took Lila to the set of a Marc Jacobs shoot last July, and Jacobs admitted it was a ‘bit surreal’ to have them both in the studio.

He explained that it brought back memories of the first time he met Kate. She was just 18 years old and had been cast to walk in the Perry Ellis spring/summer 1993 show wearing the grunge collection he had designed.
‘Kate and I became very close after the grunge collection and remain lifelong friends,’ he wrote, noting that much of their relationship has been ‘very well documented.’
Jacobs said Lila coming to New York City to shoot the campaign ‘felt a bit like an intersection of my personal and professional life coming full circle.’
‘It is with great pride and a full heart that I share this first image from our shoot with the incredible Lila Grace in her first ever beauty campaign for Marc Jacobs Beauty,’ he added.
‘Lila’s beauty, composure, patience and kindness made this project even more special than I could have imagined. With each look we photographed, she got into each character effortlessly and gracefully.’
When speaking with British Vogue, Lila showed just as much affection for the designer and his line of beauty products.
‘I love his makeup! Especially the bronzers. Makeup can give you confidence and make you feel better about yourself,’ she said. ‘A few years ago my mum gave me a Marc Jacobs perfume, Daisy, and I’ve loved it ever since.’

What an impression! Jacobs said Lila’s ‘character was more dynamic and her beauty even greater’ when he saw her in August 2011 at Kate’s wedding to her now ex-husband Jamie Hince
‘Shooting the campaign in New York was a really fun experience,’ she added. ‘I’ve known Marc since I was little and had heard a lot about Guido from my mum.’
Considering her mother is one of the most famous models in the world, it should come as no surprise that Kate has offered her daughter some helpful advise at the start of her career.
‘She’s always taught me to work hard and be polite, and to always make sure you’re comfortable with whatever you’re doing,’ Lila explained.
News of the campaign comes just a few weeks after Kate’s daughter launched her Instagram page using the name Lila Moss (her full name is Lila Grace Moss Hack).
Lila is following in the footsteps of Jessica Lange, Winona Ryder, and Kaia Gerber, who have previously served as faces of Marc Jacobs Beauty.
Kaia is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, and, like Lila, she was just 15 years old when she appeared in her first campaign with the brand.
Less than a week ago, Lila rang in her 16th birthday on a boat with her mother Kate, Sadie Frost, and her daughter, Iris Law.
Major milestone: Lila (pictured in January) celebrated her 16th birthday on Saturday
Support system: Kate (pictured with James Brown and her daughter in February) recently said she would be Lila’s ‘momager’ if she wants to pursue modeling
Iris, 17, shared a sweet picture of Lila and her mother sitting on the boat’s desk, looking incredibly similar to on another. Another image shows Lila eating Nutella straight from the jar.
Earlier this month, Kate appeared on Megyn Kelly Today and revealed that she felt pressure to pose with her top off when she was first starting out in the fashion industry.
When asked what she would tell young models, the fashion icon said she would now insist: ‘They don’t have to do it if they don’t want to do it.’
‘I wouldn’t let my daughter do it,’ she added. ‘I look at her now and she’s 15, and to think that I was going topless at her age is crazy.’
However, if Lila (who scored her first campaign last year) wants to embrace a modeling career in the long run, Kate made it clear she’s ready to cheer her on.
‘I will support her obviously. I’ll be her manager,’ Kate said, at which pointed Megyn added: ‘Her momager?’
‘Yes, I’ll be her momager,’ Kate added. ‘If she wants to, I’ll support her in anything she wants to do.’
Kate’s 20-year-old sister, Lottie Moss, has also been working as a model, and she signed with Storm Management, the same agency that discovered Kate when she was 16.
